Missy was a wonderful girl. Over the past few months, her health was quickly declining - her arthritis was so bad she could not stand anymore and she was unable to stand to use the bathroom. We gave her baths twice a day to keep her from staying in her own filth, gave her aspirin and glucosamine, but nothing seemed to help. She was getting more and more confused - due to her lack of eyesight and impatience with herself.
I will spare you the more gory details (trust me, they ARE gory), but the few days before her death were highly upsetting - both for her and my family. We could see she was in a large amount of pain and none of us thought it was fair to put such a normally vivacious and beautiful animal through so much misery. We put her down on 2 August 2007, leaving behind two puppies (Harriet and Hortense) that she'd raised all of their lives (a good 10 years). She will be sorely missed by not only the human members of our family, but our four-legged ones as well - all looked up to her as a mother.
I love you, baby - you were always my good girl. I know you're in a much happier place now, watching down on me, Big Mama, and your girls - and the boys. We will always love you and we will never forget how much love you brought to our family. You were the most kind, generous, beautiful - inside and out - , smart, and proud dog I've ever known. If you weren't covered with fur and walked on all fours, I'd swear you were human! I pray for you all the time - take care of yourself and I hope to see you one day :-D.
Love,
Little Mama
