Arrival Story:
I never thought I'd own a dalmatian. I mean, I've always thought they were beautiful dogs, I just that they could be hyperactive and a little high-maintenance. But, when I was looking for a dog and I saw his face on the website for a local independent no-kill shelter, I fell in love. Quincy is no ordinary dalmatian - he's big and lazy. Maybe not lazy, but definitely calm as compared to his other dalmatian brethren. I was immediately attracted to him - he's BEAUTIFUL, sweet, and he had "special needs" (i.e. his allergies). He'd also been at the shelter for several months. I'm a sucker for the underdog (yarharhar). I was also looking for an older dog - Quincy was four when I adopted him. I used to work at a veterinary clinic, so I felt that I had the kind of experience needed to care for his allergies. I really think that was the only thing that kept him at the shelter for so long - nobody wanted to adopt a dog that needed allergy shots, special food and medication. Except for me. I didn't mind...and so he was mine. =)

Bio:
Quincy was apparently at the shelter I got him from when he was a puppy. Someone had given him to a family that couldn't have him in their apartment (gee, never heard that story before, huh?), so they brought him to the shelter where he was adopted by a family that kept him until he was four. He began developing his allergies around then, and they just couldn't keep him - too expensive, too much work, and they were expecting a baby, so they gave him back to the shelter where I found him a few months later. I've had him for over three years and he's just the greatest dog ever. We're best pals, we are.
