Best Tricks:
collecting branches on her own for lighting camp fires - she loves it! she's also great at opening boxes that come in the mail - hillarious!

Arrival Story:
we picked djembe out of a litter of black labs on a farm in minnesota. she was so friendly and loved to play with her brothers and sisters. she caught our eye because she wouldn't let them mess with her too much but wasn't aggressive either. the perfect disposition. she sealed the deal when she decided to jump into a little baby pool filled with water and splashed around. we couldn't resist her charm!

Djembe's parents have an award-winning pet sitting/dog walking business in the twin cities called "Happy Pet Sitters." (Check out for cute doggie pics.) They were awarded TC Dog magazine's 2005 Reader's Choice Award for "Best Dog Walking/Pet Sitting Business" 1st runner up in the Twin Cities! (They serve Minneapolis & the North Metro). Djembe loves to help out (when she's not busy taking agility classes or napping). :)

"We're Bringing Home da Ribbon!"

It's official, I'm an agility champ!

My pa and I competed at the NADAC agility trial last month in Bloomington, MN and I got a blue, 1st place ribbon plus a yellow, 3rd place ribbon (the 1st place winner beat me by just a tenth of a second). It was my first trial ever! We did the novice trial since I'm just starting out. I loved it!

I got 1st place in the regular titling novice 1 class for going through the agility course (tunnels, titers, hurdles, weaves, etc.) the fastest and without any errors. Whoohoo!!!!!

The 3rd place ribbon was for novice tunnelers. Yay!

My parents say they're really proud of me. I just love it. I'm such an athletic girl. Everyone thinks I' m a boy cause I'm into sports but I just love jumping over stuff, running through tunnels and all that jazz. Girls can do it too! It's so much fun! (My dad's gonna buy me a pink collar with diamond studs on it so people know I'm a girl). Ha!

I heard my dad say in his frenchy accent "we're bringing home da ribbon!" on that thing he puts to his ear and talks into (I really don't get why he's talking to himself all the time). I got tons of treats and cuddles and kisses. (Well, I always do, but this time my dad did it in front of everyone at the trial. Man, he kind of embarrased me. I'm not a baby anymore, ya know...).

Anywho, we're doing another trial later this month so I'll keep you posted on how it goes. So excited.

i got a rash...

ok, so it's true. i got a rash on my belly. not a really bad one, but it just looks wierd. i promise it's not contageous. i've got allergies (never told you about the reaction i got after my last set of vaccinations; my eyes were swollen shut until they knocked me out with benadryl).

so i couldn't help myself. there's a muddy little lake by my house and my parents trust me to run offleash when we go out cause i don't run away (i really don't, i just stay around). anyhoo, it's so hot and i just had to cool off so i jumped in, chasing after a duck family. (i made the little babies learn how to swim real fast).

of course, my mom yelled at me not to go in there, but by that time it was too late - i mean, it's just too hard to stop once you're running that fast. you know how it is. so i went for a quick dip and headed back towards mom. had to shake off the water and i know she likes it when i do it right next to her cause she laughes a lot.

so then mom kept me close to her and we went back home where she hosed me down in the driveway. anyhoo, now i have a rash cause of the prickly weeds i went through to get to the lake. it's ok though cause i heard mom say she's gonna buy me a really fancy new moisturizing shampoo to make it feel better. and you know what that means... i get to take a bath!!!! definitely one of my favorite things to do (check out the pic of me when i was a babe in the tub; i'm pretty adorable i must say).

well, it's naptime, so gotta run. later!

Agility Rocks.

Today started out kind of slow as usual. My daddy took me out to potty after I woke him up from deep sleep early in the morning. When you gotta go, you gotta go! I used my usual "wake the parents" method which goes as follows:

1. Stare at my mom until she wakes up startled (I know she'll invite me into the bed once she sees how cute I am).
2. Jump into the bed right between my parents so they're practically falling off the bed. (I like to stretch out). At this point I forget that I have to pee and I just snuggle with them for a while. I rest my head on one of their necks. (I'm told that I snore and make wierd smacking noises with my mouth when I sleep but I don't believe it).
3. They can't resist my cuteness so they take me out. After I'm done, I get really excited for my food and run up the stairs like a maniac. They think it's pretty funny. They give me extra when I do this.

And that's how it's done. I'm a pro, trust me.

OK. So after I eat I get tired again and sleep until lunch time. My parents go walk and care for other doggies and kitties during the day. When they come back I sniff them a lot so I know who they played with. As I've gotten older, I think it's pretty nice of them to share the love. They enjoy it.

Well, then I got to go out for a run around the lake by my house. But not too much, because.....

My parents don't want me to overdo it. They love me so much, I love them too. Anyhoo, agility was so much fun today! I'm in a class with four other doggies who are very talented. It's advanced agility, so I guess I am too! I love it. So my dad partners with me and tells me where to go and stuff. Today my mommy came to see me too. She said I've advanced a lot since last time and that she was very proud of me. I got tons of kisses. I think I really did well. I did the A-frame, teeter, jumped, weaved, tunnel and this other tall thing that I like to run across. I'm getting good. I just love it. It's so much fun!!! Agility rocks.

Well, I'm getting really tired now. I used up a lot of energy at agility running around (got lots of treats too!). Talk at cha later.
