 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: February 12th 2003
Likes: Anything he can chase, Izzy (when she is kind to him), howling in harmony with Izzy

Pet-Peeves: Fireworks, Thunder, Loud Bangs, Traffic, and anything new is ‘scary’!

Favorite Toy: All fluffy toys he can play ‘tug o’ war’ with, rubber balls, anything he can chew

Favorite Food: Cheese, yoghurt, freshly-cooked chicken, any meat, Izzy’s dinner

Favorite Walk: Fields and woods where he can run with his pal, Izzy

Best Tricks: Running faster than a speeding bullet. Getting one of his well-chewed, saliva-soaked fluffy toys and placing it on our laps when we are watching TV, thus ensuring that we throw it across the room. Leo brings it back and places it on our laps....

Arrival Story: Leo was born on a travellers’ camp. He, his father and his brother and sister had spent their first days in quite cramped and dirty conditions, with a meagre food supply. They were discovered by Wendy, a sight hound lover and friend of the travellers. She realised that this little family needed more help than the travellers could give them and bought all four dogs in order to give them a better chance in life. The little silver grizzle she called Galileo, as she was listening to Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ while she was choosing names. She nursed the tiny, flea-infested and mange-ridden little bundle and his father, brother and sister back to health and loved them all dearly. Wendy has always been in touch with Saluki Rescue, and they helped her find homes for Galileo’s family. But Wendy had a special place in her heart for Galileo and planned to keep him as a member of her hound family of several Salukis and Lurchers. However, she soon realised that, with her job and all her other hounds, she would not be able to give him the constant attention his traumatised little soul required. So, extremely regretfully, she told Saluki Rescue that he too would be available for adoption.
We had been in touch with Saluki Rescue, as we were looking for a pal for Izzy, our Saluki-Lurcher (our elderly mutt, Sam, was unable to keep up with her exuberance). We jumped at the chance to adopt Galileo (regretfully, we had to shorten his name to Leo, as we live in an area where ‘Galileo’ would be made fun of). We met with a tearful Wendy and tiny, timid Galileo, and promised to look after him well.
We took Leo home and he soon settled in and made friends with Izzy and Sam, immediately turning Izzy into his surrogate ‘big sister’ and ‘cuddle-up companion’.
He was quite timid at first, but soon realised that a ‘sad-eyed’ glance and a wet, snugly nose were all he needed to claim all the love and attention he could wish for.
Wendy gets in touch with us now and again to check up on Leo’s welfare and we send her his latest pictures. I must tell her that he now has his own webpage!

Bio: Partly because he is a Saluki, but probably more so because he was traumatised as a puppy, Leo is a very nervous hound, literally scared of his own shadow (he barks, growls and backs away from it!). But he is gentle, loving and loyal. When he fixes his sad Saluki eyes on you, you can’t help but melt. When he is feeling confident, he is a proud Saluki, liking nothing better than standing in the wind, with his head held high and his luxuriant tail billowing out in the breeze.
Leo idolises Izzy and she has taught him all she knows (mores the pity!), but he tries very hard to be good. Even when his sight hound instincts take over and he chases prey for miles, he comes back to us long before Izzy does, and he is always so pleased to be back with us!
With his pal Izzy, Leo has turned our garden into a quagmire with his digging, has chomped his way through two settees, a few chair legs and odd bits of skirting board, and has caused general destruction. But he is a loving, cuddly, wonderful boy and we love him dearly and would forgive him anything.

As my pal Izzy has a Diary Page here, I thought I had better add one as well.
And now seems like a good time because I have something to tell everyone.
I'm famous!
Yes, that's right ..... well, a little bit famous anyway......
I have just found my picture at the top of the Rescue page on the Saluki-Gazelle_Hound_Club_Site!
Well, what can I say except that they obviously know a good-looking chap when they see one!
I'm so astonished to see myself online this way that I can't think of anything else to write!
Just that I may be famous, but I'm still a nice, friendly hound.
But everyone knew that anyway ..... didn't they....?
Bye for now.
