Today, March 11th, is two years to the day that my beautiful little Shih Tzu Pippin was peacefully put to rest I can’t believe it has gone so quickly, time certainly does fly and I still think about him every single day..... :-(

Hug your pets a little tighter tonight because you don’t realise just how special they are until they’re gone.....

Thinking of you always my dear Pippin X

The Old Dog

I might have grey hairs but my soul is still young,
My legs may be creaky but mine's the wisdom of age
Why battle the wind when I can walk in your footsteps;
Are you my family, are you where I belong?

There's life in this old dog, even when I grow tired
You can talk to me quietly, I can wag when your near.
It may be that my hearing or sight is not sharp
But I can still eat my dinner and roll in the grass.

I don't require much and you know I'd be glad
To walk slowly with you, or just sit by the fire,
And should the wind stir my spirits on a walk in the park
You know not to worry as I won't be gone far.

I might be an old dog, but there's life in me yet
Do look at me softly, for though time is not kind
I still have the chance to make the most of my days;
And when my time has run out as we both know it will
Please don't think that I'm gone, but remember me still
I'll be the sun in your window, the stars in your sky
The warm body beside you as your time goes by.

Please don't pass by my kennel because I am old
Is there room in your heart for a friend who was once
As fleet as an arrow, as bold as a bear
But now I look at you sadly, could it be that you care?

Give me a meal in my stomach, a fire at my back
Show me patience and love and you will never regret
Having an oldie to cherish and cuddle; you see
If every dog has his day, perhaps today is for me.........

They say you'll always return
And visit your favourite place
Where love was all you knew
And to gaze on your favourite face.
We found it hard to say goodbye
But we really do believe
That we needed to be together
And that we'll never truly leave.
I’m running through the fields now
So happy and alive
I know you’re sad without me
But my spirit will survive
Please be happy with the new ones
Who have come to take my place
I know they'll bring you joy and love
And fill an empty space.
My life with you was perfect
And the love was forever there
So always believe I’m here with you
When you hear the paw on the stair.....
