Arrival Story:
She was born from a stray dog that ended up on a fellow teacher's property. I went to take photos of the puppies in the hopes that teachers at school would adopt them. I fell in love with the little red haired one, though she was a bit of a trouble maker (hence the name Lucy)

I WALKED 1/2 mile

Well, I am so pleased to say (though I don't know why everyone is so surprised), that I've been walking 1/2 mile every day for the last 3-4 days. I guess it's a shock to a lot of people since the thought for awhile was that I would never really be able to more than scoot around, but I've surprised a lot of people, including my mom and all her friends. I used to sweep my left leg pretty bad, but that's getting better. I am wearing out one of my toenails though, and it started to bleed on Saturday, so Mom didn't walk me yesterday. She said we can go out again today, but not as far, she wants to make sure that it doesn't get germs in there ( I don't know what they are, but she said if they get in there, I might have to go back to the vet, and I don't want that to happen).

Mom has been cooking all morning, but hasn't been to willing to share anything with us, it's for our Uncle Steve who helps take care of us when she's out of town.

Well.... I hope all of you are staying in your yards, and learning from my lesson. STAY HOME IN THE YARD WHERE IT'SSAFE!

I'm doing much better

One month and 3 days ago I was hit by and van (then a motorcycle). The Dr. was not sure that I would live through the weekend, and didn't know whether or not I would ever walk. Well, I sure surprised everyone, including my mom. I started standing up on my own about 2 weeks ago, and started walking/wobbling around about 10 days ago. Between now and then my mom takes to me Aunt Veronica's house, and Aunt Kat's house, and they let me swim in their spa. Mom says it's good for me, so I do it to make her happy. The Dr. says it will strengthen my weak leg. I think its working. Today I walked 6 houses away and back to our house, then I went swimming in a real pool (it was too cold though, so it wasn't the best idea Mom has ever had). But, I get to place "kill the hose" every day, sometimes twice a day which keeps me bouncing around on my back legs trying to grab the hose. Now THAT's my kind of hydrotherapy (turning a hose into a sprinkler). My left leg is a little weak still, but I think it's going to be better. I also found out I get to stay at home and don't have to go to the vet while Mom goes on her vacation. I'm sooo happy. Not that I don't like the people at the hospital, but I'd much rather be at home.

Stay in your yard where it's safe

On September 26th I got out of my yard. I ended up getting hit by a car, and now I can't use my back legs. I think I'm doing ok, though I'm not thrilled about peeing on myself. Mom has been very good about trying to keep my dry. She bought me a wagon, and she's going to build me a cart, though not yet, she says it's a little too soon. I had to stay at the vet for one whole week. I used to be really scared of them, but they're not so scary now. I really hope everyone who thinks about getting out of their yard changes their mind, and just stays where they belong. My mom really, really loves me, and she cries a lot now. I think I'm going to be able to use one back leg, but I'm not sure. When I tried to scratch with it the other day she cried, she was smiling, but she was still crying. People are weird. What are diapers? She wants to get me some. Actually, I think she already got them. I'm not sure I'm going to like them. We're going to go camping in 2 weeks. I've not gone with her before, but I guess I'm getting to go now. I hope it's fun.

Remeber!!!! Have your family check your fence so no one gets out when they're not on a leash. STAY where you're supposed to be!

Lucy
