Arrival Story:
When my beloved Labrador passed away, I did a lot of research on the kind of dog that I thought would fit our family best at the time. A Ridgeback seemed to be just the right fit, and we found his breeder through the Ridgeback rescue coordinator in our state. Max was the only red wheaten pup in his litter, and he was born without a ridge (as some purebred Ridgies are). He came home to be our pampered furkid when he was 9 weeks old - straight from his doggy mom, to his human mom & dad.

I haven't posted in here for a long time, so I guess we'll join in & play this tag game! Mom will type for me.

Here are the rules:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

So here are 7 fun facts about me...

1.) I can wag my tail in a circle when I'm happy.

2.) I can plant a big smooch on your lips while you're standing up, without ever touching any other part of your body.

3.) I like other dogs OK, but my favorites are the little ones. Especially Jack Russels.

4.) I am not what you would call an alpha dog. I'm a lover, not a fighter!

5.) I prefer to sleep in bed between Mom & Dad. And I need a pillow, too, please. Trying to remove me is useless - I can become one with the mattress.

6.) I prefer to walk in my own neighborhood, and if you start heading back toward home, please keep going that direction. Walking & sniffing is nice, but home is always best.

7.) Along those same lines, I will not pee or poop anywhere but my own backyard. If we're on vacation, I will hold it as long as I can before I finally am absolutely forced to use another yard. But really, I prefer to do my business at home. My brother Clifford is not so discerning. He pees on bushes in public. How embarassing!

I am tagging the following doggies so they can play if they want to:

As you can see from my family section, my sister Molly passed away last November. I was really sad at first, wondering where she went and why she didn't come back. Mom and Dad were sad too, and I got kind of depressed at first and did a lot of laying around. Don't get me wrong - I like laying around anyway, but I did it more than usual.

After a couple of weeks, though, I started to like the only dog thing. I mean, I got all of the pets, and all of the snacks. My walks were longer since Mom only had one of us to walk, Dad took me for extra walks to cheer me up, and noone was biting my feet or my tail if I got the attention first. I even got to cuddle on the bed once in a while between Mom & Dad - how sweet is that?

But now it's all different again. Mom said she loves dogs and the more the merrier, and she thought I needed a friend to play with while she and Dad are at work. I tried my hardest to discourage her. She introduced me to some Labradors - have you ever met a Labrador? Mom loves 'em, but I think they're kind of silly. They do all of that tail wagging stuff and it kind of annoys me, so I growled and snapped at them. Could be because my foster brother, who lived with us for a while, was a Labrador and he was an attention hog, I don't know. But Mom wouldn't give up, and one day she brought home a dog that she met at the Humane Society. He looks and acts a lot like a Ridgeback - and he likes to play the way I do! I didn't growl at him, and we have been friends ever since!

So now I have a brother named Clifford. He's kind of a pain, but I like him OK. Mom is trying to get him to hold still for pictures, but he's only 7 months old and he doesn't think picture taking is much fun. When she does, she'll make him a dogster page, too. For now, it'll just be me hanging out here. Wish me luck with the new kid!
