thoughts from my doggy brain

...if it's good enough for the cat, it's good enough for me.

This morning the cat brought me a bird and a mouse. He's quite the prolific hunter...and he's nice enough to bring his finds into the back yard for me.

When mom opened the door this morning, I sneaked the mouse into the house. It was just the perfect size for me to slip into my mouth without her noticing.

Unfortunately, I was a little excited and squeezed the mouse, and a little pee spot appeared on the carpet. Mom thought it was me. So when she came to check to see if I was okay, I didn't know what to do. I was afraid she'd see the mouse, so I ran upstairs. Duke knew I had something and wanted to see, so he came too.

Mom came upstairs after us. I was ignoring her when she was saying, "Dutch, come here."

I ran into the bedroom.

Mom followed.

Then she saw the mouse tail hanging out of my mouth and screamed! She wasn't sure if she wanted to grab it or not. So she said, "Hey, let's go downstairs." And we all went downstairs. She opened the back door and let Duke and me outside.

She called me, and I didn't come. So she and Duke chased me and the mouse around the backyard. I didn't want them to have it so I ate it.

Afterall, if it's good enough for the cat, it's good enough for me.

I had fun at daycare. I made some new friends there. The people there threw the ball for me and I chased it. Sometimes I got it before the other dogs. It was fun. It made me so tired that I fell asleep as soon as I got home. Duke liked it there too...he says his favorite thing was the turkey dinner they gave us for Christmas. I like to play. I would like to go there again sometime. Mommy said I should be polite and give you their Web site address.

This is it: www.theresaspetcare.com

At daycare they have an indoor swimming pool. Mommy said that maybe I can go there and swim this summer. It is deeper than my swimming pool. I like it when mommy puts the sprinkler in my pool. It is fun to play in the water.

Mommy missed us when we were at daycare. She said that there was a lot of snow where her and daddy went for Christmas. They saw grandma. I haven't met grandma yet, but Duke has. He says she's nice. Maybe some day she will come visit us and I will meet her too? Maybe she will throw the ball for me. I like to chase balls. Mommy gave me a green plushie monkey and Duke a plushie duck egg for Christmas. I like to shake my green monkey. It is fun.
