Arrival Story:
When I moved from an apartment to a house in 2001 I couldn't wait to finally have another dog. I joined a Yahoo Group called Dogs Needing People. Keesha's ad said she was in Massachusetts & I had already fallen in love with her description when I realized that she lived in Southern Rhode Island instead! It was a long drive, but worth it. The poor thing was a senior citizen (8 or 10, still not sure) and her people gave her up. She was living in a foster home and was almost completely unsocialized. But, she became a beloved companion and friend & she even put up with Daniel's crazy puppy antics when I brought him home. I knew she was the dog for me when I went to pick her up and she was an identical twin to the Shepherd mix I had when I was a teenager. Katie's ears only stood up halfway and Keesha's were true Shepherd "bat" ears, but they could have been sisters. I still have a couple of photos where I have to look at the date to see if it is Katie or Keesha. They are both missed.

Bio:
Keesha's hips had started to give her a lot of trouble and pain and then she had canine vestibula that couldn't be controlled by medication, causing her to be so dizzy that she vomited, couldn't walk straight and couldn't do anything but lay there, drooling & nauseous, and look so sad & miserable that it made me cry. So, I did the best thing I could for her and the vet and I helped her over the Rainbow Bridge in May of 2005.
