Slow summer and slower momma

Today is my fourth birthday! It is also Friday, which means that momma works both her jobs and is gone all day long, except for a trip home to check on me in the afternoon. At least I get yummy treats and lotsa love. But, no walk in the woods, not for nine weeks and counting. Poor momma had something called "major knee surgery" and she has had two extra metal legs since then. I don't mind too much that we can't go for our long walks, we have a big yard and lots of woods for me to run around in and she has taken me swimming a couple of times, too. I love to swim!

I made sure that I brought her lots of presents when she wasn't feeling good. Mostly mice and chipmunks, but I also brought her a couple of squirrels and something called a rabbit. It was really hard to catch, almost as fast as I am, and momma told me I was a very good boy. She made me take it outside with all the other presents, though. I don't know why she won't let me keep them in the house, they smell SOOOOOOOO good!

Exciting hidden toys!

Momma took me in the car yesterday and came out of one of the stores with a bag that smelled SOOOOOOO good I knew it had to be for me! She put it under the seat and told me to "Leave it" but then she went into another store and left it there, so I was SURE it was a hidden treat for me. I managed to pull it out from under the seat and rip open the bad.

I found a big meaty bone, THREE squeaky toys, and a new reflector vest that was warm & soft! I was so excited that I forgot to hide everything again when Momma came back... apparently she thinks I am a VERY NAUGHTY BOY, but she laughed, so she couldn't be too mad at me... I'm too cute for anyone to be mad at me for very long, anyway.

When we got home she put all the fun things from the bag somewhere I can't get to them, but I can still smell that bone.... mmmmm, I can't wait for something called "Christmas" to be here!

Happy day!

November 29, 2005
Today we went for our usual hike in the woods after momma got home and then we went in the Jeep for a ride in the car! Momma disappeared for a while and I was sad, but then she came back with some bags full of food and the most ginormous stuffed animal I have ever seen! It was almost as big as me! I kept sneaking into the front seat to sniff it, and momma kept saying, "In the back!" but I was so excited about it that I couldn't remember to stay in the back for very long.

When we got home she gave me the stuffed animal and I flung him up in the air a bunch of times and then shook him back and forth to break his neck. Then I went looking for the squeaker. Momma said there wasn't a squeaker, that I should be nice to my new baby, but I knew there had to be a squeaker in there somewhere. I started ripping out all the stuffing, but then I noticed that kitty had a crackly catnip toy. I tried to take it from her (doesn't she know that everything belongs to me?!?!), but kitty smacked me with her sharp things and made me cry and then momma told me to leave it... I was so mad that I ripped that new baby completely apart and there was stuffing everywhere! ...But, I still couldn't find the squeaker. :>(
