Arrival Story:
I found Luke on a website that list dogs in shelters.We went to the shelter to check out him a long with the other dogs. At first i thought that he was taken because he was the last dog we ended up seeing. He was the last because he was put into the back cages on the very bottom plus he was scared. He literally shoved himself into the corner. We had the shelter worker take him out so we could have a look at him. The guy then placed him on a very stable cart mind you, Luke however was scared enough to shake it. His tail was tight between his legs and a total heart break for any animal lover. I had to have him to get him out of this situation causing so much stress on the poor little guy. I told my dad he was the one, he wasnt so sure because he didnt act like a puppy. I said he would come around. So my dad placed a deposit on him to hold him till the next day so my mom could see him and we left. The next day we went down to look at him agin with my mom, she fell in love and i got the chance to hold him a while but not long as we got there before the shelter was to close. So we said we would be down agin the next day to fill out the paper work. The next day came and went by so slow, then we left. When we got at the shelter they took us to the dog room and let us play with him as we filled out the paper work. Sure enough he acted like a puppy! A very active one at that, first impressions might mean a lot but never go by just looks. Once we got the papers filled out we got news we had to wait till we got him fixed, the following monday (it was Friday) so we asked if there was any way to take him home for the weekend. They agreed it would be okay. So we did and took him back on Monday morning. When he was with us he was covered in fleas and it took about two washings to get him clean. We asked about them when we took him back. They said they had came in with tons of them and they wernt surprised. On Tueday we were able to take him home and he then became my dog.

Bio:
The reason i was after a dog was i needed a new training partner. My rottweiler was just to old to do the things i wanted to work on. It would have caused un-needed stress on her. Then Dakota, Husky, isnt on the overly smart side to begin with. I was after a german shepherd by my parents didnt want a large dog. So i went to the shelter looking for a beagle but also looking for Luke. They had him labled as a mix breed on the site so wanted to see for my self. He was small and his feet wernt overly large so i thought he wouldnt turn out to bad. He didnt. I call him a german shepherd hound because well, he kind of has the markings of a german shepherd and has the hearding for sure. Then hound because of how he is shaped, hes longish and his ears hang. Plus, he bays. So it all worked out. We are in agility and obedience in 4-H. We have been doing it for his whole life, as soon as i got him he go placed in it. A friend of mine joined a 4-H club and i tried to get into hers but it was full so i found my own that would take me. I later in '06 changed to her club. This is the club i will be finishing my last year in during '07.
