Alex is gone...

Tuesday 9-12-2006, my Alex passed away. He was 12 1/2 years old. Thanks to everyone who sent well wishes after his initial diagnosis. After Alex's miraculous recovery in June, we had 3 wonderful months with him. He had fun, played, received lots and lots of new toys, had many walks to the creek and was very happy. His death was quite sudden. If you have to lose your best friend, isn't that how you'd like them to go? No lingering, no suffering... tho that doesn't ease my broken heart.

I'll always love you Alex.

They don't know anything!

I hadta go to the vet AGAIN today. I told him grrr... grrrrr.. stay away ya jerk! But then I let him do his job, poor guy has to make a living I guess. Lucky for him, there wasn't much poking and prodding. And lucky for me, he said he doesn't need to see me again! Yippeee!! No surgery needed!

He said we don't know what caused this, but it's going away and healing up great and that's all that really matters. Yeah, no kidding. So keep those fresh hands to yourself mister!

Anyway, can you believe it? Here I was given a week to live and now 3 weeks later I'm nearly healed! And bouncing off the walls like nothing even happened.

Aren't we dogs just amazing?

Thanks to everyone who sent me purrs and woofs while I was laid up. Your care and concern meant tons.

Woof!
Alex

And I'm feelin' goooood! Jenny has given ya some dire news.. she's such a drama queen! I'm not goin' out like that! I've been eating and playing for a week now. Nobody can believe it. Sure I'm on painkillers, but I'm a big tough athletic guy. (Hey no comments on my gut!)

My tumor (which you'll read in a moment, isn't really a tumor) popped like a big ol' blister the other day. Jenny was gagging, it was pretty funny. And that made me feel lots better. They keep wrapping me up to keep me from leaking and that's pretty annoying.

I hadta go to the stinkin' vet today tho. The vet was yack yack yackin.. saying something like that looks good.. They couldn't believe how well I was doing. After seeing me last week, they were sure I was a goner.

Anyway, the vet says if my side heals up OK, he might be able to do surgery afterall. AND that I prolly don't have a cancerous tumor, I prolly just had a really bad abscess.. or a small operable tumor attached to a really bad abscess and he won't know until he does more testing. Sheesh humans! First they say you're on your deathbed and then they give ya all this hope. Honestly, they are not nearly as smart as they think.

Well geez, that is the most talking I've ever done. I definitely need to go play now.

Peace Out!
Alex

P.S. I wanna thank my feline friends Mara and Malaika for sending me healin' purrs.. They really work! Thanks ladies!
