Favorite Walk: Anywhere I'm going Best Tricks: Roll over, Shake hands/paw, crawl, (all thanks to my PetSmart Training class!) Arrival Story: I adopted Squirt (then Jerry) from a rescue group named Valley Cats and Dogs in Mesa, AZ on September 7, 2005. Squirt was put up for adoption at a local PetSmart store during their national adoption event. It was love at first sight. I got to the event right at 11:00AM to ensure I was the first (and only) pet parent to apply for adoption of Squirt. An hour later, with a shopping cart full of puppy stuff, I drove my new love home. Unfortunately for Squirt, he got a little carsick from the ride and threw up in the back of the truck. Way to make a statement Squirt! ;) Bio: Squirt has an intriguing color pattern with a black muzzle, tan body and black tail like it was dipped in an ink well. He also makes an interesting vocalization when he wants to play or has to go potty - it sounds like the Spanish letter "r". Forums Motto: Momma's boy The Groups I'm In: Scottsdale Hot Dogs, We Support Spay Neuter I've Been On Dogster Since:
It seems like just yesterday when I brought home my little brown ball of fur named Jerry. Leaving his brother Ben behind at the store, I hoped that he too would find a lifelong loving home at the PetSmart Charities Adoption Center in Mesa, AZ.
I wasn't sure I would get the little fella, as the adoption agency, Valley Cats and Dogs, told me there had been several inquiries about him prior to the adoption day. But I was the lucky one.
I dutifully filled my shopping cart with all new things necessary for raising a 2-month-old pup, loaded him and the goods into the truck and headed home.
It was a decent ride of about 30 minutes or so. And by the time the truck rolled into the driveway, Squirt had thrown up in the car due to car sickness. He was too little to see out the window poor guy!
But he loved to curl up and sleep on the lounge chair by the pool. Once a sun dog, always a sun dog!!
This month, my baby turns 5 and he's all grown up.
The first day my new mommy brought me home, I was a shy, scared little boy. My new big sister Samantha was a complete spaz-monkey, jumping all over the place, chasing balls and Kongs, and diving in and out of the big water hole...I guess it's called a pool.
Anyway, I just hid between my mom's legs most of the time. Then she tried to drown me. She put me in the water by the steps to start my swim lessons right away, but I didn't know how to swim. I just ran, and ran while my body sank and my head bobbed under water. I finally got to the step, but I was almost too small to crawl up the step out of the pool. When I did it though, mom was right there giving me lots of praise and yummy treats.
Even though it was 105 degrees out, that water was cold to me. So I liked to curl up between mom's legs on the lounge chair and soak up the sun to warm my little body. It wasn't long before I claimed that lounge chair as my own. Now whenever its nice out, I like to climb up on it and just sunbathe to my heart's content! :)>
