When she was a pup, it was the FRISBEE, and she was great! Now that she's elderly, she loves a good pre-softened rawhide treat (pre-softened by Norman)

Steamed vegetables (especially carrots and brocolli) and CHEESE!!!
Favorite Walk:
Anywhere, as long as it's at a slow pace.
Arrival Story:
My neighbor owned her mother, a black&white Golden/Border mix named Alex, whom he bred with a friend's dog, a Golden/Springer mix. Spring 1988 and Alex had 7 puppies -- many different colors! Kate was one of the only two puppies who were golden colored. I picked her for my own the very day she was born, and she came to live with me at 6 weeks of age. For the first year of her life, she had her Mom, a sister, and a brother who lived just across the street. She loved it when I'd take her over for a romp in the yard with them.
Bio:
Kate will turn 17 years old on April 12, 2005. She is in astonishingly good health to be so old (just getting a little incontinent, and takes medication for her arthritis.) Even though her vision and hearing have declined, her sense of smell is still keen -- she remains the consumate chew-treat thief!! Though she no longer has the stamina for a long walk, she enjoys wandering/sniffing the entire backyard several times a day, and still makes the effort to chase birds and squirrels! She loves the company of her dog "brothers, the comfort of her big, cushy dogbed, and being brushed and massaged every night.
