Likes:
being loved and cared for, sleeping on soft things, FOOD, WATER, laying/sleeping in your lap (YES, he is over 60lbs, but don't tell him that!)- he is trying to get in my lap as I type!, sleeping on the bed, playing, and wet, slobbery, whole-faced kisses!

Pet-Peeves:
having to go to his kennel, not being able to sleep with mommy and daddy every night, having to take a bath, getting his nails trimmed, touching/pulling on his legs or feet (although he is getting better about this), an empty water bowl!

Favorite Toy:
tennis balls, any doggie toy, but most of all STICKS- he loves to chew up sticks, light beams (he goes nuts chasing the light from a flashlight! it is great!)

Favorite Food:
Gosh, he is just happy to eat! Doesn't matter what it is, he will eat it! He seems to particularly enjoy his dog food, although I am not sure if he has actually ever tasted it. He inhales it rather than chewing!

Favorite Walk:
ANYWHERE- he LOVeS walks!

Best Tricks:
Since he is deaf, I think it is so cool when we give him signs and he understands completely. He knows the signs for "no", "sit", "want to eat?", "need to go outside?", "shake", "speak", "be quiet", "come", "down", and "treat". What a groovy dog! :)

Arrival Story:
I went to have some film developed and instead of waiting for an hour at the store, I went across the street to the PetsMart. The local Humane Society was there with some of their animals that were up for adoption. I was "just looking" to kill some time. However, after one look at Petey, I just knew he was special. I read the card on his cage and teared up. He had been severely abused and was a rescue case and was in a foster home. The police were called when his owner was caught holding him by the leg and hitting the wall with him. The result of that violence was a broken leg and ribs. He was severely malnourished and had mange. His owner told the police that "the darn dog wouldn't listen". If he was a barely intelligent individual, he would have learned that Petey was bilaterally deaf (both ears). Luckily Petey was removed from him and taken to the Humane Society. The Humane Society fostered him out and he was all better by the time I laid eyes on him. The last thing I needed was another dog (we already had 4!). But, I left my information with them and told them to let me know if no one adopted him. They called me the next day and told me more about him. I told my fiance about Petey and his story and he decided to go down to the HS to see him. He also fell in love right away! The Foster Parents wanted to meet both of us and check out our house. They also wanted to bring Petey to see that he got along with the other dogs. Everything worked out perfectly and he has blessed our home ever since. This dog is truly just happy to be loved. He is the nicest dog I have ever met (nicer than our others, even!), and he has more right than anyone to be mean and bitter. If he was a person, he would be the kind of person who you ask yourself, "are they really always that happy?!" The answer is yes. He really is that happy and that wonderful. Petey is a wiggler, not a wagger. He is one of those dogs that gets the full body wiggles when he sees you. A wag just won't do! And that tail of his get's going and knocks over any and everything in its path! He even broke it once when it hit a corner (you can see it in the picture of him passed out on the futon!). It was so sad to see him wiggling his body and his booty and his tail just hung there! But- no worries! It has healed perfectly and he wiggles and thrashes about now with no problem! He warms my heart and makes me laugh and is just the cutest most wonderful thing!

If you have never seen this video- you have to see it! It sheds some light on the ignorance about the breed. Please watch it and share it with others! http://www.pitbullproblem.tk/
