Arrival Story:
Zayne is a rescue--he's a Hurricane Katrina Survivor. We lost our first rottie boy--Zachary in September 04 and wanted to wait a while before getting another. One day while checking out Northeast Rottweiler Rescue--I discovered a link that led me to Zayne.

Bio:
He loves everyone--including other dogs & cats. He goes everywhere with us and has the sweetest personality. He's been to Mt. Washington, an Irish Pub, an Art Show, Brookdales Farm as well as lots of friends houses. He is well socialized and has nice manners. He is still a bit independent--so he does not always come when called--we need to work on that one! Zayne went to NYC in February and had the pleasure of going into Tiffany's--what an experience that was.

My Katrina Anniversary

Well, it's been a year since the big Hurricane that led me to my family. My mom has said that it was a terrible thing, but it led me to her--so I think she is glad of that. I know I am.

The summer has been great--lots of swimming and ball chasing. I just love the beach. Not too much going on lately--no more sushi at the beach. My sister continues to challenge us--but I do like her and she is fun to play with. She can hold her own.

I will be going to Dog Camp in a few days. I heard mom say something about a massage lecture and me being there. Last week I went into Boston with mom for a workshop and the emphasis was on work. There were lots of dogs, but I had to sit on a table and be a model. I really wanted to play, but mom said it was not play time. She did seem really happy about how well I did. So, it's a good thing.

Well, I've got to run for now.

More later!

My first entry

My name is Zayne and I am new to all this diary stuff. I've been with my new family for almost 10 months--so you can say I've settled in. I have a great family--a mom & dad, and grandparents too. I am quite the southern gentleman as they say. I am so glad to have been rescued after hurricane Katrina--but never mind about that. Life is good for me.

The cuisine is incredible--3 meals a day and when I go to Grammie's house (don't tell my parents--but that is my all time favorite place to go)--I get lots of extra treats and frosty paws. My mom is somewhat strict with my diet--I get a mostly raw organic diet--not that I am complaining mind you--but a little junk food every now and again is good for the soul--right?

The adventures I've had so far have been great. I go most everywhere. I saw my first snow at Mt. Washington--then I kept seeing the white stuff everywhere. I really liked the snow. My parents dressed me up and took me to NYC in February--what a thrill--lots of people for me to charm. Speaking of charming--I went shopping at Tiffany's. They suggested a diamond collar which sounded really good to me, but I think I heard mom say something about when I got my own wallet (still trying to get one??) I could consider it. Anyhow--it was a most wonderful trip.

This past spring we moved closer to the beach--I go there everyday for my walks. It's a great place and my parents say it's good for my hips and knee. Yes, I have bad hips, but I get lots of good stuff to help me and daily exercise too. I am quite lean which also helps.

Another thing happened this spring--I got a sister. Her name is Zoleigh. They call her pig girl--she is a messy one. She scoffs down her food--wears it too. She adores me--it's so good to be adored. It's my job to teach her--this I find hard as her brain is not like mine. She is afraid of things and I am hoping she learns that she doesn't have to be afraid. I think it will be a long road for her. She does like to copy me though--she even lifts her leg to pee. Mom says she's an alpha b&%#*----hmm wonder what that means. Can't be too bad because they laugh about it a lot.

I recently dined on wild sushi at the beach--also known as fish bait. My parents were not happy about that one as the sushi came with a 3 inch hook and fishing line. It tasted really yummy--but befire I knew it--I was at the vet for a nap and woke up with my belly shaved and a large incision. Sushi may be hazardous to my health. My parents say that I must leave it "always" when they say.

I am doing quite well and back to myself--back to the beach and my regular food. I've even started swimming. I'll post more as I go along.
