Arrival Story:
Makia came from Sacramento California. Some of my daughters so called "friends" were visiting the house when people were not home so we decided we needed a big, bad girl to watch over the house. It took a good year for the big and the bad never happened but she is intimidating and people don't just "drop in" any more. She has taught our other dogs respect and dignity and (thats been a tough one for our little Roxie) we love her dearly.

Our Aussie Loomis and Bulldog Jiggs think Makia is the Queen of all that and a little bit more. Really they're right, she is. :-)

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this--the last battle--can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
Don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer, so.
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me til the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
it is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close--we two--these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

If only our four legged friends could live as long a life as we do. Makia, you have been such a good and loyal friend to us, my goodness what you have been through and seen is amazing. You are getting up in years and have slowed down with arthritis. It's difficult to see you in pain but so many times you are still like the cute little pup we brought home, it's amazing to watch you play and smile. We love you girlfriend and always will.

This is a special Tail of Devotion
