You CAN teach an old dog new tricks...

Mom has been working on reasserting herself as 'alpha' in our house lately. Part of the reason is she doesn't like it that I bark at the fence and at people that pass me on our walks, but hey, I'm just looking for a good scratch. Why don't these people stop and pet me? She says I like my walks a bit too much also as I like to pull her along at my speed. Well, no more...
Mom has taught me that I can't pull on my lead. With a lot of work and some treats, she now has me walking at her side (ok, I'm still about 3 inches in front of her but we don't change overnight) and I no longer pull on my lead. I still make a little noise when I pass someone as I still don't understand why they won't pet me. Mom says it's because when I bark they think I'm threatening, but I just want love, I swear! She knows with a bit more work, I'll get even better and then won't that be great 'cause she says I'll get even more walks 'cause it will be a pleasure to walk me. WOO-WOO!
Oh, she wanted me to add that I'm 7 1/2 and been pulling on the leash my whole life, so that's why she says you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.
See Ya!

I LOVE to get my teeth brushed!

Mom got out the toothbrush tonight and I got sooo excited! You see, I LOVE to have my teeth brushed. I wish mom would just cover that toothbrush in doggy toothpaste and let me chew and chew on it. She thought it was really funny when she finished with me and moved onto my sister, Izzy, and I came back for more. She took a picture of me chewing on one end of the toothbrush and Izzy chewing on the other. Check it out!

Doggy Chiropractor?

Mom took me to the doggy chiropractor this week. She wanted me looked at because I've had problems limping on and off since she rescued my new sister, Izzy. We rode in the car forever! Mom says it was only an hour and a half but boy did it seem long to me. Don't get me wrong, I like to go for rides, but I prefer to go to friends houses, not the doctor!
When we got there, I was excited to see six little mini schnauzer puppies! Woo-Woo! I was even more excited when the kitty came in. I LOVE kitties! I really wish my mom would get me one of my own, but she says we can't have a kitty because my human brother has allergies.
Anyway, the doctor ran his hands all over me, up and down my back and also down my legs. It felt pretty good. And then we went home. Mom said it didn't look like much, but I tell ya, I feel GREAT! Now when I chase Izzy around the yard, I'm back to full speed. YEA!
