Likes:
Sassy thought her soul purpose on earth was to eat and be petted. She loved to watch the Toy Group Competition at the Westminster show on TV.. Oh and she absolutely loved to sit in parked cars all by herself, but hated riding in the cars!

Pet-Peeves:
Sassy was terrified of going to the vet and the beauty shop. She insisted on sitting right in front of the front doors and would get hit in the head by the door each time a customer would enter. Sassy was absolutely terrified of the vacuum.

Favorite Toy:
Sassy could demolish any "heavy duty, long lasting" bone she got her paws on....But she didn't "Do" toys at all!

Favorite Food:
Sassy would eat anything....Absolutely anything....She would eat herself to death if she got the chance! Sassy's 3 favorites were Oreo's, Hershey Kisses (ya I know but she lived to 16) and buttered popcorn..

Favorite Walk:
Sassy loved to walk around the creek in Vallemar where she lived. She did not like to go anywhere else and in fact would become very scared of unfamiliar surroundings.

Best Tricks:
Sassy did all the typical tricks. But her specialty was THROWING herself on the floor and rolling over when she decided SHE wanted a treat, this could happen anytime and anywhere. Sassy also was a master at Hide 'n Seek.

Arrival Story:
Our family had lost our first dog Punky at the age of 16, an incredible gloom hung over the family. The grieving process seemed like an eternity, but in fact was only about 1 week. A visit to the San Francisco SPCA brought us to the puppy section which was full of sleeping pups. Sassy was the only pup that was putting on a show for us. It was love at first sight; she had the most incredible soulful brown eyes we had ever seen. She had been picked up as a stray and could not be adopted out until the 5 day waiting period had lapsed. We waited an agonizing 4 days when Memorial day 1984 came, we were told the SPCA was holding a raffle for the in demand puppies....And believe it or not Sassy was not one of them...Nobody wanted this beautiful pup but us; she came to live with our family at the ripe old age of 6 weeks, and brought us unlimited joy for 16 years...The most incredible gift that $8.52 could buy!

Bio:
When Sassy first came home she gradually became sicker and sicker, within a week our vet indicated she had Advanced Distemper. She was put on an incredible amount of medication, was forced to remain inactive for the longest time. We babied and nursed her back to health, our beautiful girl had miraculously survived, but the distemper had stunted the growth of her teeth and destroyed her enamel also. She was the most beautiful big girl with the tiniest brown teeth which never seem to bother her whatsoever. Sassy survived the removal of 8 large tumors and 3 teeth at the age of 12 and went on to have an incredible life until the age of 16 when she gradually began slowing down, arthritis had attacked her body she had lost control of her bladder at night and was always sooo ashamed of the "accidents" she would have. I remember coming home one fateful Sunday afternoon in October of 2000 and I found Sassy disorientated in the front yard. She was having seizures and was struggling to breathe. I screamed, cried, and held my baby looking into those beautiful brown eyes that were now rolling back into her head. At that moment I knew that there was one last gift I could give to my beautiful girl. Our neighbor Patty realizing the pain Sassy and I were going thru gave me a little pill she had used to put her pup to sleep with, but my baby just struggled on and refused to die I held Sassy for over 1 ½ hours on the walkway of my front yard. Since it was a Sunday, my only option was to call the Humane Society. I prayed that my baby would die in my arms, but she continued to struggle. The very kind representative of the Humane Society scooped my big girl up, wrapped her in a beautiful afghan and put her in his truck. I kissed her one last time, told her how much I’d loved her, and then said my final goodbye. Truly the saddest day of my life.

I have been Tagged by the Lovely & Kind Sassy in Salinas CA for yet another round of this fun Dogster game....

You may ask why are you here in my diary and what should you do, well here's the rules for this fun new game of "Get to Know You"!

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

HERE ARE MY 7 NEW FACTS:

1. Wherever I walked, I left a trail of fur.

2. Whenever someone would say “Sassy Let Me Pick You Up” I’d jump into anyone’s lap that was sitting down….I hated to be picked up!

3. I always got overly excited when the Electric Popcorn Popper would come out of the closet.

4. No matter how hard you tried you could never unscrew “The Cookie Jar” without me hearing it which then instantaneously motivated me to make a mad dash for the kitchen.

5. I was utterly terrified of the vacuum cleaner and would always run into the farthest room to hide, until I heard it go back into the closet.

6. I refused to go out in the rain.

7. I would squat and do a “Fake Pee” just so I could come in the house to go to bed
