Arrival Story:
The little "sata" turned up on a country road in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. She emerged from the tall grass at a corner, all five pounds of her ten week old self, and spoke eloquently with her mascara eyes of the ticks, fleas and parasites from which she hoped to be freed. She had sharp teeth and was afraid of bright sunlight.

Soledad is a "sata," a stray or feral dog in Puerto Rican Spanish. She has a classic sata look, which is that of the "universal dog," such as a Dingo, Pariah Dog or "Yaller" dog in the Southern United States. Sata's are treated terribly in Puerto Rico and often meet grisly ends. If you'd like to rescue one, visit ""
