Arrival Story:
Dante was rescued from death row at a local pound by the good folks at Little Shelter animal rescue. He was about 6 months old. I met him when he first arrived there, and we became fast friends. He was adopted out by Little Shelter 4 times and was returned because of bad behavior. They said he was uncontrollable. Volunteers at the shelter reported that he was difficult and obnoxious. I had spent quite a bit of time with Dante and couldn't understand what they were talking about. He behaved wonderfully for me! He was very sweet and gentle, affectionate too! My wife and I are also volunteers at Little Shelter. So we decided to bring Dante home with us for a chance to get out of the shelter. And to see how he behaved in a home setting. He was wonderful. When we brought him back to the shelter, he went into a deep depression. We couldn't stand to see him like that, and knew he would have a hard time finding another home because of his reputation. So we decided to adopt him!

Bio:
Dante likes to work and keep on the move. We found a wonderful trainer who specializes in Rotties. We thought Dante was going to hate his trainer because he does not like to be told what to do. Boy were we wrong! He loves Jeff, his trainer! We met Jeff at the Long Island Pet Expo in the Fall of 2003 after Dante was thrown out of the place for poor behavior. We started training the following Spring. By the fall Dante and I were invited by Jeff back to the Pet Expo! Jeff wanted to feature us in a solo performance of dog obedience training. In the days leading up to the Expo, Dante and I practiced hard. Dante was performing perfectly! The day of the Expo as Jeff and his professional trainers gave their demonstrations, Dante and I practiced on the sidelines. Dante couldn't do anything right! He didn't turn or stop when he should have, and he was tripping me over him. I was worried! I thought we were gonna look like fools in front of everyone. Before I knew it, Jeff called us out into the ring and we began our demonstration. Dante performed flawlessly, he did everything perfect! Dante knew the crowd was watching him, he loves crowds and being the center of attention!

Dog of The Day Tales and Tails!

Good morning, puppers,
I am just waking up after a wild day as your DOTD! What a rush! I was so busy answering pup pal requests and thanking doggies for their well wishes and the rosettes that I didn't even have time to chase my tail!

And THEN, I find out that I've also been appointed as the B and T's Diary of the Week! Another honor! Twice honored in the same day! I don't think it gets much better than that.

I made sure that I told everyone I knew about all the fuss and even my Uncle John came over to visit with me. (well actually he came over to help daddy put in a big a/c in our living room window) Uncle John told me how proud he was of my accomplishments and told me I had better be very good from now on because I had a lot to live up to.

That means toning down my chasing raccoons and squirrels and being really kind to my toys. I guess I can do that......well maybe for a day or so.

Many thanks to everyone who sent their best wishes to me yesterday. I felt so GOOD and PROUD to be a ROTTIE!

Love, Dante

I checked my pawmail this a.m. and saw that I was named Dogster Dog of the Day! What an honor! Thank you so much! I keep pinching myself to see if I am dreaming!

What a Fantastic month April has been! I had a wonderful 8th birthday and even better than that I am chosen to hold the title of DOTD! I'm woofless! I'm barkless! I'm overwhelmed! I'd blush even if I wasn't black and tan!

I hold out my paw to my dogster friends and their families! They are the ones who should be honored for all they do to make my life so full of love and support EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR!!

I hope that by being DOTD that I can show the world that Rottweilers are the best!
I will do my best today and everyday to promote our breed in the most positive of ways.

Thank you Dogster for choosing me to be DOTD! God bless all who are part of the family we know as Dogster Dot com!

Football tag

Ok all, I got tagged by Sadie lady and am now going to attempt to play football. I prefer large blocks of wood but I guess pigskin can be mighty tasty.
Hurry and pass the ball to 5 of your team mates so they can make a touch down! You are also supposed to write down 5 things about yourself that are funny. Also please leave me a bone and ask all those who visit your diary to leave you a bone so you will know they have been there! Ok…Here goes the play!

1. I am a lunatic when riding in the car. I want to look out all the windows of the car at the same time.
2. I am known world wide as a skillful counter surfer.
3. I know how to make you turn your head away and then I'll steal your food right off your plate.
4. I hate it when I don't see a tree in my way. When this happens I try to dig the trees up or chew them til they fall over.
5. I sneeze in my pawrents’ faces when my pawrents try to kiss me!
