Arrival Story:
Hayley joined our family on October 15, 2005. My friend Marna Gale runs a beagle rescue called Big On Beagles. She came from the Windsor Humane Society as a stray & was in a foster home north of Toronto. She spent just over four eventful years with my family. Hayley was the little beagle that could. Two years after she was adopted, she lost her sight to glaucoma. She never let her blindness stand in the way of anything. Losing her sight actually made her powerful sense of smell even more so. Any food had to be put well out of reach of Hayley, garbage bins tightly secured. She wasn't a playful beagle, the only time she got really feisty was after a bath & she would try to play tug of war with the towel that I used to dry her. The other dogs in the family were very respectful of Hayley, she was definitely considered top dog. Sadly, I had to say good-bye to Hayley on November 4, 2009. Old age had crept up with her & with that, a number of medical issues. She will be missed but forever in my heart.
