Life! He is the happiest dog on the face of the earth! Stubby is in a relentless pursuit of fun. He lives for our morning drive to Starbucks, his girlfriends, swimming, playing, going to Petco, his pup pals, going for walks and to the park to run free!

Pet-Peeves:
Hot air balloons, tickling his two hind paws (they're very ticklish), the vacuum and lawn mower, and when his sister, Magnolia, tries to abscond with his chewy.

Favorite Toy:
The pool noodle (aka water weenie) and any stuffed animal that squeaks.

Favorite Food:
Anything we're eating except edamame and bananas. He HATES bananas!

Favorite Walk:
Outside!!!

Best Tricks:
Rocket launches into the pool. He gets unbelievable air especially considering he's such a stubby dog! Not sure if this is a trick, but Stubby has pawesome posture! :)

Arrival Story:
It was time to get Magnolia a brother but we were fearful because she has longtime issues with bigger dogs. Well, I researched on pets911.com for months and saw hundreds of dogs that I thought would be good for her. One in particular stood out and I emailed his foster mom for several weeks. Finally we made a date to go to the rescue and meet 'Scout'. We had always feared that we could never find a dog as trusting and loving as Magnolia...it just wasn't possible. But no sooner had we walked into the house, we saw these ears (these HUGE ears) that did not fit the head they were attached to and behind those ears was the second sweetest dog of all time. We sat down on the floor, he climbed into our laps, collapsed backwards into us and just gave us his belly and kisses and paws and I knew he was my dog. He is an angel and if anyone could gain Magnolia's trust, it would be Scout. So the next day, his foster mom brought him to our home and with Magnolia muzzled and VERY unhappy at the fact that there was this strange beast cruising her backyard, well, he just sniffed her a bit and then went exploring. Fifteen minutes later she was chasing him and he was chasing her and a friendship had been born. Now she kisses him, they cuddle, they're partners in crime and best friends!! She is so happy to have him here and he just loves being alive...especially here with us!

Bio:
Scout was found wandering the streets of South Phoenix at about 7 months of age. When his foster mom spotted him, she called him over to her car and unbelievably he just jumped right in. He had been pretty badly abused, probably hit with a stick or bat that caused some disc damage in his spinal column, he was very thin and terrified of men. But his foster mom fell in love with him and kept him with her at the rescue for one year and one week because she wouldn't let him go to anything less than the perfect home. Well, when we met and she came to our house, she knew in her heart that Scout was home. And he has overcome so much of his abuse and trust issues and now he's the funniest, most loving, craziest little man you'll ever see. Update: He's also a SuperDog because in September 2005, the disc damage as a result of the abuse he endured, progressed into full paralysis requiring emergency spinal cord surgery. We hoped and prayed that Scout would regain, at best, 85% mobility. The vet said that most dogs won't even try to stand until at least 24 hours post-surgery. Scout stood at 12 hours. He also said that most dogs don't try to take their first step until 48 hours post-surgery. Scout walked at 17. Our little man wanted to come home, and with the exception of a new, cute set of pigeon toes (in his hind paws) he runs, jumps, flips, chases and flops just like he did before the surgery. He's not just Scout...he's Super Scout!!!!

So, mom decides that in honor of my 5th birthday she wants to do the MMI Genomics Canine Heritage Breed Test and sends off my doggie DNA to the lab. For the last three years we've suspected I was a German Shepherd/Welsh Corgi mix. I mean I herd like you can't believe and I'm always ALWAYS underfoot! It just makes sense...plus look at me. Have you ever seen ears like this on anything BUT a Shepherd or a Corgi?

So, more than anything else, mom says I'm a purebred Brown Dog but today she found out something that made all of us go...WHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAT?

My primary breed is unknown meaning my parents were not purebred ANYTHING. Well, no duh! I was after all found wandering the streets as a puppy so what does that tell you?

Anyway, the 38 categories included, and currently available, do not include any Corgis so hopefully they'll eventually be able to identify my primary breed. But for now, it's a DNA fact that I am, at least:

Chinese Shar-Pei
Chow Chow
Mastiff

Yeah, I know. Pick yourself up off the floor and join me in wondering "what in the world were my parents thinking? And their parents? And their parents?"

Yikes! I am the quintessential purebred Brown Dog, ain't I?

Stubby here.

Well pups, it's been a long few weeks since my brother, Baby Porkchop, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. This is a very different home without him and we all are still struggling with his passing. Mom and Belle are taking it the hardest and are carrying each other through this very sad time. Maggie and I try to help but all my kisses don't seem to make mommy's tears stop. I wish they would.

Anyway, mom has said that with the holiday weekend coming up she is planning to rejoin the living and get all caught up on Dogster. :) That makes me a happy pup! She has been so remiss at thanking all of you for your love, prayers and support over the past many weeks and this weekend she wants to 'give thanks' for all of you.

I can't wait to bark at all my pals again very soon!!! I've missed you all so much and I believe that mom will feel better once she reaches out to this amazing extended family we have on Dogster! We love you all and we'll bark at you soon!

Stubby out.

Bringing Baby Home

As most of you know, we lost my bunny brother Baby Porkchop exactly one week ago. It's been a very hard week and we're trying really hard to help each other through it. Belle's very sad as she keeps looking for Baby and has started to cuddle up with the stuffed dog mom gave her. (He looks like Baby.) Mom has been trying to put all her energy into Belle and I think it's helping Belle a lot. It's tough for mom though as she's spending so much time taking care of us that she's not able to grieve herself for Baby...and I think mom misses Baby more than anyone. They really loved each other!!!!

Today we're going to pick up his ashes and bring him home finally. Mom ordered a beautiful maple wood urn with three little bunny figurines on top for Baby. She had it engraved with the following:

My Beloved Baby
Such a very special soul
Forever in my heart
Happy Funny Kissy Bunny

You see, Baby was a kisser! He loved to just sit and give kisses to mom! He kissed her all the time!! In fact, the very last thing Baby did to mom was give her kisses. He was one in a million. We miss him so much!!!

We love you Baby!!!!!!!! We will love you for a million lifetimes!!!!!
