My public has spoken! We found out this morning that I was voted the Fox 4 Pet of the Week for this week! Wow! The picture my mommy submitted is the one in my profile where I am surrounded by feathers. The funny part about this picture is I didn't even make the mess, my sister Dakota did. I just love having my picture taken and jumped right in the middle of the mess when mommy got the camera out and looked REALLY guilty! It's just bragging rights, but it's fun to be on TV (mommy was sure excited to see me on "Good Day"!) and their website. Running For Mayor of Fort Woof Dog Park!!

As many of you know, I love our local dog park, Fort Woof. Each year, Fort Woof hosts "Barktoberfest", an annual fundraiser. During the event, there is a "mayoral" election to choose Fort Woof's new mayor. It's the only election you can legally buy and it's a hotly contested race to see who can raise the most cash for the park. The dog who raises the most money is Fort Woof's "Mayor". Mayors past have been able to attend a city council meeting to celebrate their victory and had their photo taken with Fort Worth's esteemed mayor, Mike Moncrief.

I have my "hat" in the ring this year and I'm asking you to vote for me and beat the "pants" off current mayor Mondale (he's one of my Dogster pup pals and I still love him)!! I've attached a link to the voting page. It has instructions on how you can have your vote counted!!! You can donate by check or via Paypal. So, I'm getting out the vote! Help me win and raise some money to support the nation's #1 dog park (as voted this year in Dog Fancy magazine). Thanks in advance for your support!!!

My mommy sent a photo of me with my kitty brother Snuggles to Operation Kindness for their annual calendar photo contest....the photo had to demonstrate the bond of friendship between animals or animals and their people. My photo with Snuggles was selected as an Honorable Mention!!! It'll be in their 2007 calendar. (Should be available in November via their website, www.operationkindness.org) I'm famous!!

Trying to Beat the Heat....and Seizures

I seem to have developed a high level of sensitivity to the heat and have had 2 seizure episodes the past 2 months.

My vet says that it could be a combination of the heat with the head injury I had as a baby (I had some sort of "blunt force trauma" to the face before I came to live with my mommy and daddy). The first time it happened I just got home from the dog park with my mommy and my sister and was just too hot. We played in the shade and I had lots of water, but it was just too much for me and I had several seizures. I had to go to the emergency room and stay over night so they could take care of me. When I came in, I had a temperature of 106! Really scary. My mommy held me the whole time and that made it a little better and she was really scared. After that, she bought a thermometer so she could keep track of my temperature while I was outside and my grandma even bought me a K-9 cool jacket!

The second episode happened on Sunday. I was next door with my sister Dakota visiting my favorite neighbors- Sam and his puppy Gracie (she's a golden retreiver and so much fun!). The sun was almost down and we just checked out the yard. I guess I got too hot, even though I was playing in the sprinklers. Sam was there to help us and got me cooled down so my mommy could get me to emergency. I had several seizures this time and it was even scarier and I had to stay overnight again. My leg bled a lot when they took out the IV and I had to come home with a bandage and my leg is really itchy now!

I hope it cools off soon so I can play outside again. For now, mommy says I can only go outside to potty. No playing.

On the Road Again

Recently I've been quite the traveling girl. A few weeks ago I went with my mommy to Austin to visit daddy. He has a new job where he travels, so we went to spend the weekend. Wow! What a great town. Everywhere my people went, I got to go too!! Lots of restaurants where I was welcome and even got a doggie burger of my own at BB Rover's. I was a bit naughty at brunch though and slipped out and made a run for it. My mommy quickly caught me though.

After that, we went to Houston. Not as many places for me to go, but we had a great time. Went to Galveston and saw the gulf for the first time! Wow. The water was really warm though and not very refreshing. We got to eat at a restaurant with a waterfall though and that was neat. Also got to see the Millie Bush Bark Park. I loved the swimming holes, but it was too hot for me to play.

Hopefully we'll get to go on the road again soon!

My Birthday!

It's hard to believe that I am 3 years old already! What a birthday I had. This weekend my people took me to a BBQ restaurant in North Fort Worth to romp and play. They have an outdoor patio area with grass and picnic tables and they let me come with my people! It's right on the Trinity River, so I was able to swim and fetch my favorite football toy. After I swam, I ran around on the grass and got to have some special people treats (french fries and chicken fingers- YUM!). Summer's almost here and that means lots more swimming time with my brother and sister. I heard mom and dad talking about camping for my mom's birthday. I've never been, but I'll bet it's fun!!

Even though my mom was disappointed that the Dallas Stars were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs, we had a great time!
