Leave a bone for Pete

Nicknames: Pete-boy, Petezer; Peter; Baby Boy

Quick Bio:
Likes: going for walks; tearing through the house!

Pet-Peeves: Being left at home alone

Favorite Toy: my shoes and his treat ball

Favorite Food: yummy things stuffed in his Kong toy

Favorite Walk: Parks; anywhere we go

Arrival Story: After much searching and many trips to see rescued dogs, we found Pete at the Humane Society, where he had just been left that day. He acted right away like he wanted us, and he was a "stray-surrender," so we took him home that day--most unusual...we could see why soon--he had no training at all! It took lots and lots of patience and looked shaky at first!

Bio: It was obvious that Pete needed a dog-obedience course! On the first night, he urinated on his master's foot. On the fourth night he stopped at the top of a training ramp and left a little package right there! But, by the end of the course he'd won "most improved dog" and he ranked SECOND in the class! (he lost out to a golden retriever--teacher's pet!)

The Groups I'm In:

DOD: We lost our wonderful beagle, Pete, today, March 20, 2010. He made us happy for almost 8 years. We loved him very much and he always showed his love for us. We miss him.

On March 20, 2010, we had to have Pete put to sleep. He had been ill with some gastro-intestinal disorder for about one year. He had been very near death the previous October, but with advice from our veterinarian niece, we embarked on a course of treatment and diet that helped him improve, but he never gained back the weight he had lost. In February and early March he became more ill and finally could not eat.
He was a wonderful, faithful friend and we miss him terribly.

Well, life can be difficult when two new housemates move in! My parents have two grandchildren, a girl, 4 and a boy, 2, who've moved in our house. They are lots of fun most of the time, BUT, sometimes they bug me! My mom and dad try to tell them that sometimes I don't want to be bothered--after all, I'm used to being the king of my turf. I am a gentle sort of guy, but sometimes I get frustrated! I bark at them to let them know to lay off! The good news is that when I'm super tired and ready to snooze, I get to go to sleep with Lily, who is almost 5. She is sweet and gentle when I sleep right by her and that is one of the best times of the day! (see the photo mom added to my dogster page!)
