Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-pound dog

April 12th 2002

Attention! Being touched, being chased by other dogs in fun, sprinting and jumping, riding in cars, her squeaky toys, cuddling and sleeping

Being left home alone, not being allowed on the couch, baths, and she definitely hates getting her nails clipped!

Favorite Toy:
She loves rope toys and chasing after any toy you've thrown. She also really likes soft furry toys with squeakers inside, but not plastic toys.

Favorite Food:
Kirkland's Lamb & Rice and of course most any kind of dog treat. She just found out how tasty peanut butter is. Yum! She definitely doesn't like her veggies though. :(

Favorite Walk:
She gets super excited when she see's her leash because she loves going anywhere, especially to the neighborhood park.

Best Tricks:
Shake and High Five, she also is pretty good about going "peeps" on command

Arrival Story:
My husband and I had always wanted a dog. When we were finally settled into our first house we went to the local county shelter and SPCA. At the county shelter she was in the 2nd kennel with another dog who looked scared out of its whits and wouldn't come near us. My husband really liked the other dog but everytime he tried to get it to come over to us, Callie raced over with her big "smile", wagging her tail and looking so sweet. We went to the SPCA and saw a dog we kind of liked but weren't sure about. We went back to the shelter and asked to take Callie out. Of course all of the dogs go hysterical when one dog is let out of their kennel so the staff worker had to drag this poor, terrified pooch out to the adoption room. As soon as she saw us she jumped up and "hugged" my husband and that was all it took to win our hearts.

Although she was very scared and timid when we first got her, she is now secure in how safe and loved she is. Also at the shelter she weighted 36 lbs. and we were told she was a lab and would be about 75 lbs. After observing her sweet personality and quick speed and agility we realized she must be part whippet too and she has only gained about 3 lbs. since we adopted her. She 's a perfect fit for us and such a sweet and loving addition to our family. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that Callie has a unique black stripe down her back and her sides have a brownish tint to them. She's so pretty! :) Update - Callie now has a baby brother Ben that she loves dearly!

November Thoughts...

Well I am definitely the Princess in my household. I'm very dainty and although my little brother is stronger than me and can be pushy, I am the top dog in our house. I look so cute and innocent, but I can dish out lots of attitude when my parents try to put me outside. Especially when they're getting ready to go to work. I just hate being outside in the cold and I do all I can to avoid it. I've even started going to the bathroom on the cement patio because I don't like the cold wet grass. This frustrates my dad a lot, but I just don't like the feel of that cold grass.

I've been having to wear a cone around my neck for a month or so most of the time now too because I can't seem to stop licking my paws and scratching myself. I had lost a bunch of hair around my eyes and it made me look much older than my 2 1/2 years, but a round of steroids helped and my hair is all growing back now. My parents are going crazy trying to figure out what I could be allergic to. They actually gave me an oatmeal shower last week that wasn't too bad. I usually hate bath time but being inside with warm water made it much easier to endure.

Well I guess that's all that's been going on for me. My brother and I are still getting along well but he's still a puppy and ALWAYS wants to play! Aargh!
