 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: January 8th 2002
Likes: playing and going for walks, chasing things, car rides

Pet-Peeves: People that approach to fast or that are being loud upon approach

Favorite Toy: rope bones, plush toys with squeakers

Favorite Food: Canned foods and anything lamb flavor

Favorite Walk: Anywhere that she can mark every 5 seconds

Best Tricks: High 5, High 10, Saying her Prayers, Crawling on command, rolling over, standing on hind legs, leave it be, and "wait"

Arrival Story: I got Speedy from a shelter. They said she had been beaten and neglected. She was only about 3-3.5 months old when I adopted her.
I believe she is a Jack Russell/Whippet mix from best guess based on personality & appearance.

Bio: It took about a year to fix Speedy's behavioral problems from the abuse she received before I adopted her. It was a very long year! But worth it.
Speedy is a quick learner and loves to go on car rides. She plays nicely with Dusty and their games of tug-o-war are hilarious. She'll lay on her belly and Dusty drags her all over the room!
Speedy loves to be in the sun and when not active is typically found hogging the sun beams that shine through the windows.

She had been suffering from back pain that didn't seem to go away no matter what medicines were given. Xrays and tests showed nothing out of the ordinary, but when her urine became a strange orangish color and accidents became frequent it was concluded she had liver disease and from the way she was going downhill so quickly, the vet suspected cancer as well.
To end her suffering, I chose to release her from her pain.
I will admit it was a relief once she was at rest. But getting to that point had my nerves, heart and mind all over the place.
I dreaded taking her in and tried to hold off as long as I could. I had told her the night before and morning of that I was sorry, that I was grateful for having her and that she would be free of her suffering. I honestly think she knew what was going on. But it didn't make it easier. The morning of she actually got her on feet and wandered about the apartment. Following like she hadn't done in some time. Her sides were sucked in and her tail tucked in tight as I know it hurt her move, but she did so. She stole my coffee one last time after ignoring it for weeks. I couldn't help but smile at that. She was my coffee thief.
When I placed her in the car, something she hadn't been able to jump into on her own for half a year, she screamed in pain. It helped to let me know what was about to happen would be the right thing.
I was taken to a small room done up like a livingroom and held her as the vet did what he had to do. Even he was crying. He had tried everything he could think of and consulted the other vets but none of them could understand how/why it progressed as it had or why the medicines did the opposite of what they should have.
I was with her to the end, until I was ready to pass her over. It was actually peaceful and I'm glad I was there with her.
There's a very noticeable void here now. Speedy had so many peculiar behaviors that seemed more humanlike in some regard and more catlike in others. Stories of her had us laughing this weekend, remembering her for all she was. How she would wrap her paws around the arm to pull a coffee cup to her level, how she managed to squeeze into the darnest of places or would perch high atop furniture that leaves us guessing how she manged to get up on it. She learned so many tricks with ease and always seemed to know where I was going even if I didn't say anything.
Speedy you were the oddest and smartest dog I've had....I'll miss you. Speedy - Jan 2002 to Feb. 25, 2010.

My owner left me at her moms house for two weeks. I was so nervous I refused to eat and started chewing on my hind feet really bad. Her mom bought me some medicine to stop the feet chewing, which I hate, but I got a treat after each application of it.
I did manage to eat half my dinner, after some canned food was mixed in, but I didn't want to eat. I was so confused as to why my owner wasn't there to feed me or to play with me. I spent most my days laying in the window watching for her to return.
I thought I heard her truck once and ran to the door all excited to greet her, but it wasn't her. I was disappointed and crawled into my crate and refused to come out. Her mom left the door off the crate, but I couldn't bring myself to leave it. Yes, dogs do become depressed and upset over change.
Her mom tried to get me to play, but I didn't want to, I just wanted to stare out the window and wait and hope. I did get to go for some nice walks and sniff around a large yard, but when I got in the house, my owner wasn't there.
Then one day, she walked in the door! I was so excited I jumped clear up to her shoulders many times in a row! She caught me on the 4th jump and held me. I was so happy! Then I was mad she left me and ignored her. Then I was happy again! No....I was mad, um, happy, mad, happy. Ok, then I just stayed happy! I pranced & pounced at my toys and brought her every toy I could find! I was so happy! Couldn't tell huh?

We got to travel again to visit my mum's friend and their dogs. The alien bug eyed freak dog pug thing was there snorting up a storm. That thing should be named Snortzilla!
The pitt/boxer mix wasn't to thrilled to see us, but she mostly stayed in the bedroom. When she came out, I had fun bark-scaring her. She is really friendly, but I don't really like big dogs for some reason. Anytime she'd leave the bedroom to greet my mum, I'd snap at her. But I wasn't able to do that but a few times, because I got scolded and sent to my crate. It was terrible having to stay in there, the door was open, but I had to stay until I was told to come out. That pitty mix was all gloating as my mum petted her and played tug-o-war with her.
To make it worse that freak dog pug kept trying to get in my crate with me, but luckily she's pretty much blind and never could locate the door. She did run smack into the side of the crate a few times. That pug is uber friendly and follows me every where I go.
The people got some more horses and they neighed at me! Such scary huge beasts those are! I nearly wet my fur when they approached!
It was a fun trip though. I got to mark about every median rest stop there was and had some french fries too! But, it was so good getting home.
