I'm learning to milk goats!

You can see from my newest photo that I'm watching carefully as Dad teaches me how to milk the goats. It's hard work, especially when you don't have any fingers, but I think I can handle it. And if I'm really good when Dad teaches me how to milk I get to have some of the fresh milk to drink. If you look closely at the photo you might even see my "milk moustache".

My Baby Goat

My new parents raise nubian dairy goats. I've never seen a baby goat before and this week the first baby of the season was born. Mom and Dad were a little cautious because I can be a little "nippy" with the big goats. I am, after all, part cattle dog and they don't call us heelers for nothin'.

Anyway, they have nothing to worry about. It stays in its box and I lay next to the baby and give it baths. I protect it like it was my own. When Mom and Dad go to the barn for chores I go along but now I have to make them work faster so I can get back to the baby and make sure it doesn't miss me.

I can't believe I missed all this kind of stuff for the first seven years of my life! I love it here. Come on, Mom and Dad, I need more babies to love!

Waaaiiit a second... IT JUST MOVED! Oh my, run away! Run away!!!

I thought it would just stay in it's box and be a nice baby. I didn't know it could jump and run around! GET IT AWAY FROM ME!!!

Ma, Help!!!

The Big Move

Last fall I had to change homes. I kept getting in fights with the other dogs. I really loved it there but it just wasn't working out the way I'd planned. So my parents packed me up and took me to my Dad's parents' house in Virginia. At first I really missed them but then I started to notice things.

I didn't have to compete with all the other dogs for attention any more. My new parents have one other dog and she's pretty old, and to tell the truth, she's really nice too.

My new parent's are really nice too. They take me for walks and lots of rides and I get plenty of attention.

They also take me to the barn every day and let me help with chores. I keep all of the goats in line and even get to nip them on the heels from time to time! It's like I was born for this kind of life.

My first parents came and visited over Christmas and brought Petey to visit. We got to play and wrestle. It was a lot of fun.

Now things are right. I am the queen of the castle. I am top dog. I am the ruler of the roost. I am.,. well, you get the idea.
