My Tail of Devotion for Flint

Wow, Where do I start? Well, considering I wouldn't be here typing this if it were not for the love of a dog. Then I guess my story starts many years ago, when I was a toddler. One summer day forty something years ago I was left in the backyard alone for just a few moments. It was then that I ceased the moment to escape from the confinement of the yard to explore. Just acorss the road was bright colored revolving things, and the sounds of children and swings. I had to investigate, big kids were giggling and playing. So away I went to the street, between the parked cars where no one could see me. But I wasn't alone after all. I had a guardian, an angel with fur and a wet cold nose. Before I knew it there was a wall of fur blocking me. I screamed, cryed and hit the furry wall but it would not budge. Pulling at her hair and trying to escape but she held her ground. She new something terrible would happen if she let me go. Like I said no one could see me not even the car that had passed at 35 mph at that precise time. I for sure would have been killed. My father saw this from the window. It happened so quickly he could not have gotten to me in time. The angle I speek of was our family dog, Dawn a collie. From what I heard she was fed steak for a long time after that, and I was not ever left alone. I have always loved dogs and have always had my guardians with me. Flint has come to me many years latter and he is one of a kind never leaving my side. He fears nothing and will do anything to please for nothing more than to have a scratch behind the ears and your love. I often wonder if the spirit of Dawn is with in him.
