Arrival Story:
For Christmas, I was told I was allowed to get a dog. On December 26, 2002 my family and I started our search all over southern California shelters for a female German Shepherd. We came across my dream dog-a puppy female German Shepherd. However, at the previous shelter my mom had brought my attention to a little male Pit Bull who calmly sat behind the bars and simply stuck his paw out to touch you. When I put my hand on his paw he grabbed onto my hand and tried to pull me inside the cage with him. I saw his sweet longing to be loved and adopted the moment I touched his paw. My family encouraged me to get the German Shepherd, but I thought about how sooo many other people wanted that little shepherd and how I was probably the only chance the little Pittie was going to have for survival. I couldn't let him go. On December 28, 2002 both dogs were available for adoption. My dad and brother went to the shepherd's shelter and sure enough, there were other people there that wanted her. My mom, sister and I went to the pittie's shelter and the place was dead. We were the only ones there who wanted him. Without another thought I chose my puppy-the pittie. And when I ran over to his cage, sure enough, he did it again-he reached his paw out and tried to pull me in-hence his name-Pawz. He was taken to a clinic to be neutered and vaccinated and on December 30, 2002 I brought home my male Pit Bull mix puppy-Pawz.
