Likes: Anything that smells like my parents, anything brother Tory has, nightly BIG BONES, being loved and cuddled, fetch!

Pet-Peeves: When Tatzen won't let him take a nap

Favorite Toy: My little brother steals them all... but Mom and Dad have a stuffed squirrel hidden away for me

Favorite Food: The big cookies we get each night, and while I preferred Canidae they switched us to Wellness when Canidae's formula changed

Favorite Walk: The DOG PARK!!!

Best Tricks: Sit, Down, Stay, Come (if I'm not chasing a squirrel), Give Me a Kiss (I'm GREAT at this one)

Arrival Story: Mom REALLY wanted another dog, but wasn't sure if Tory was ready to give up being an only dog. So she looked and looked on petfinder.com for a rescue and then found me through Companions for Life. They'd looked at another place, but the puppy growled at Tory, so he didn't get to come home with them. Me, I'd just had a bath and was in my foster home's front yard and I was SCARED. I just sat there really nice and sniffed Tory hi and he sniffed hi and that was it - I'd passed the first test. Then they put me in a CAR!!! (My only car trip was when I was 3 months old and had to be in a truck from Virginia to Connecticut... it was a long ride!)
I was 4 1/2 months old when they got me, so now I get the rest of my life with Tory and Mom and Dad!

Bio: The rescue group told Mom & Dad that my mom was a purebred Golden and dad was a German Shepherd/Collie mix (that's how Mom convinced him to go look at me... they thought THAT was a good mix - little did they know how good a mix I am!)
As I grew up, they could kind of see some of those traits in me, but while looking around on Dogster, Mom found a couple of Carolina Dogs that looked just like me, so we did more research. I fit the bill perfectly, except that I have gold eyes, somewhat floppy ears (but it looks like my ears were injured before they got me - they flop where the little indentions are), and I'm bigger than most CD's - about 60 pounds.

Forums Motto: I love everything!!!!

Name: So, what does JD stand for, you ask! Mom and Dad used to watch a show called "Dead Like Me" - one of the girls on the show had a golden retriever called JD for "Just Dog."
Dad thought this would be a fun name (Mom wanted to name me Hobbes, which would have fit, because Tatzen could have been Calvin). Dad won, but he says I'm definitely not "just a dog!"

Ok, so my life now compared to my life before is GREAT. Plus, I've already got Mom trained to write my diary for me - this is a big thing because I'm so young I get distracted easily. If you heard what I really think like it'd be this: Ooooh, food! Oooh, wubbie (he's my stuffed sheltie). Ooooh, Tory! Oooh, food! Oooh, grass! Oooh, squirrel! So, see, she has to do a lot of reading between the lines to make anything comprehensible come out onto paper (ooooh, paper!)
Anyhow, back to my thought. My life is great. Compared to what it was just a month ago, when I was with LOTS of other dogs, waiting for a home. And what it was before that, when I was going to be euthanized (that's a long word for a little puppy to know) just because I wasn't going to make my dog-mom's owners any money, this is heaven. Plus I got a BROTHER!!! He has a long fluffy tail that I can pull on - sometimes I manage to drag him backwards this way!
But, see, Monday got me worried. We'd gone to the V-E-T before (I don' t know what it is, but that's how Mom and Dad say it) but all they did was poke me with needles. Monday, though... Mom left me there - LEFT ME! - and then they put me in a crate, and then they poked me more with needles, and then I went to sleep and when I woke up I hurt. PLUS I'm missing something...down there.... To make matters worse, Mom and Dad won't let me run around as much and yell at me if I lick myself - something about stitches and infection. Do you think they know what happened to me at the V-E-T? I don't think so, they wouldn't send a doggie in to lose parts of him, would they? But, I keep crawling underneath Tory, and he's missing things too.
So, I've decided V-E-Ts are bad. And I'm forgiving Mom (Dad's good, he didn't take me there, he came to rescue me). But if she makes me go back again, I'm going to be a very unhappy puppy.
