They Moved My Bed

Mom and Dad rearranged the furniture the other night. They got some sort of weird machine that they use to take walks inside the house (which seems a little ridiculous to me) and they had to make room for it.

But, as a result they moved my bed right up next to their bed. At first I missed my cozy spot in the corner, but now I kind of like it. Since I'm really close to where Mom sleeps, she can reach down and pet me from time to time. And I always know about it if she decides to go somewhere. As long as she never steps on me, I think this will be a positive change.

To Moe From Grandma's House (Number 2)

Dear Moe,

Hope you are having fun. I tried to run away from g-ma last night. But she found me in the neighbors yard. I almost got a cat for a midnight snack. Cousin Spanky has been sick. He had to go to the vet for his bottom again. He can't have any snacks or people food, ever again. Do you know what kind of cereal (dry food) that mom buys for me? I shared some with Spanky when he was so sick and he liked it. Cousin Zoey is very annoying. She wants to play all the time but I put her in the corner today. I think I taught her a lesson. Have a safe flight home and will see you soon.

To Moe From Grandma's House

Dear Moe,

You look like you are having fun. I am left at home with g-ma and auntie. But I am having fun with them. They let me sleep with them and have snacks too. I also get to chase cats & squirrels. Pssst. Moe, don't tell mommy or daddy about the snacks.

At Grandma's

Mom and Dad and Moe went on vacation and left me with Grandma. (It's ok, I didn't want to get on one of those big silver birds anyway). Here is the email Grandma sent to Mom today:

You neglected to tell me Porter snores like a grown man. Is that normal for
her? Other then that she is fine. We had some potty issues which we are
working on also. She doesn't want to go poop outside. I have her out 4-5
times a day for quite awhile. She is currently playing with her cousins and
thinks she is the size of Zoey & Spanky. I had better go redirect their
play.

A New State--Iowa

This weekend, along with the rest of my family, I traveled to Iowa for one of Moe's earthdog tests.

It was an exhausting trip for an old dog like me, and I don't really understand Moe's strange compulsion for grubbing about in tunnels just to get to bark at a rat the humans are never actually going to let him have. (He disagrees with me on that point, of course.)

However, we did take a nice drive through the country afterwards, and I got to sniff several new places. Also--thanks be to hotel rooms with two beds--I got to sleep on a human bed without getting accidentally kicked for my trouble. So, it wasn't really a bad trip, all and all.

Still Here

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post! When the weather warms up Mom tends to get all wrapped up in her outdoor pursuits, and I think she forgets that she has to be my secretary too.

But to be truthful, not much eventful has happened. And to be even more truthful, I like it that way. I'm happiest when everything is relaxed and calm, and I can just hang out and be happy with Mom and Dad (and sometimes even Moe).

Oh, and a trip to the dog park this weekend would be nice too, just in case anyone reading this was thinking about taking me.

Brrrr.....

The cold, hard, wet stuff is coming down outside and the wind is blowing. It's days like this when I'm especially grateful to have a nice, warm couch to curl up on, and a nice, sweet Mom to scratch my belly with her toes

A Lady

Last week Mom took me to the groomer. I don't usually go there, Mom usually grooms me at home. I won't pretend that I liked it, but I did like Mom's reaction when I got home!

She fussed over me and petted me and told me I was beautiful. She said that I was so soft and fluffy that she just couldn't quit petting me. And with my new collar and those last few pounds that I've finally lost--Mom said I look like a real little lady.

A Sleepy Christmas

Moe said Christmas wore him out this year, but I actually feel nice and rested. I woke up for the present unwrapping and some eating, of course, but otherwise I slept and slept and slept...and even slept in Moe's new bed that I stole from him. Very relaxing!
