I rescued these loves from my friend Robyn's shelter. They were both victims of neglect at very young ages. Pachino is 7 months old and Chiquita is almost a year old. They now live a doggies dream life with me and my girlfriend. We spend hours a day playing in parks, going swimming and cuddling.

The lessons I've learned from Chiquita

that love is so uncomplicated,
that touch is often the best form of communication,
that there is no greater investment than time and patience,
that a game of hide and seek is more fun than any game technology can create.
that teaching something is a gift.
that the best things are free: a long nap. a run in the grass. a good friend.
that you don't have to look like, talk like, or even be the same species as your best friend.
that you can speak with out saying a word,
and tell someone "i love you" just by looking in their eyes.
that when she grows, I grow.
that something new for her makes it feel like its new for me.
that the wind out the window of a moving car is exhilarating.
that you can always try to jump a little higher.
that cuddling is very, very important.
that greeting someone with a ton of excitment and enthusiasm makes them feel special.
that thinking of their well being is better than worrying about your own.
that trust is something you must earn,
and the value of it is enormous.
that every day is a blessing.
that food is delicious.
that if I judged myself with her eyes, I'd be the greatest person in the world.
