Arrival Story:
We had a cat, we had a female Boston(GINGER LEIGH), but we needed a friend for them. I read in the Newspaper about a CKC registered 2yr old male...cheap. There had to be a catch. We drove 2 1/2hrs to a trailer out in the woods. I was scared all the way to the bone!! There must have been 90 dogs there!! He didn't know his name, was malnourished, flea ridden, and in a dirt chainlink pen 4'x4'. That horrible woman opened his pen and his back legs fell out from under him from weakness (I almost cried). He was in terrible shape! And I didn't care... I was taking him home regardless. I had to save him at least. He had never been in a car, so the long ride was a challenge! He apparently had no human communication, he didn't know how to play! We had to teach him, slowly! His first vet check was heartbreaking! HEARTWORMS!! His name has been changed, we had to be very careful because he was scared to death. He still has a hard time with strangers and being woke up quickly, we have to talk to him before we can touch him. He scares easily. A year later we a heartworm negative and completely house broke! YEA!! Then we turned in that horrible woman that raised him to the authorities for running a puppy mill! JUSTICE for my Gator Boy!

Bio:
Gator has perfect Boston markings, thick stout build (about 28-30lbs)... Big Boy!! Heartworms are very trying on everyone! But we have a real success story!

well, mom and dad did everything they could, my liver was just too damaged. i know they loved me SOOOO much. it was the hardest thing they have ever done. i know the kids are gonna miss me, ginger and breezi aren't gonna know what happened. breezi always slept curled up next to me. i protected her, she'll have to sleep with mom and dad now. ginger sleeps with maegann, maybe cheyenne will let breezi in her bed. i hope so, breezi is soo young still yet.
mom and dad took me to pa-pa's house, and picked out a pretty sunny spot in the yard. i loved they sun. pa-pa will make a nice cross for my headstone. i loved you all, i thank you for all you have done to care for me in the past year. i couldn't have lived a better life. i'll always be there.....

thought this was going to be the savory gravy on the lamb and rice kibble! mom and dad had taken 2 weeks off, the kids were out of school.... we were all going to be home together. things didn't turn out so good!
mom noticed i wasn't eating as much as usual. decided i should see the good doctor. after doing some blood work (my heart worm test is NEGATIVE!) they found my liver is failing. we weren't sure if it is an infection or liver disease. i have to take 1 liver pill twice daily and 2 different antibiotics twice daily... change my dog food and increase my protien intake. recheck with the good doc every 2-3 days.
i have gained 3 pounds of fluid on my belly, they shaved my belly in 2 places to pull fluid off my stomache and have taken an xray and 2 ultrasounds. honestly, i am barely hanging in there. i have no energy, and dad thinks this is the final nail in my coffin... but mom refuses to give up.
the good doc has decided to give me synthetic protien enzymes, so i have to stay at the office for the whole day, and they shaved my arm too! come on people! leave my hair alone! the good news is i am feeling a little better, but still not good.
they have decided i have an infection from eating a toxic sago palm berry. we aren't sure if the damage is irreversible or if the antibiotics will clear it up for me. dad dug up the sago palm trees in the backyard immediately, but the damage is done. don't know how this is going to turn out yet. please wish me luck and send some prayers my way. the vet bill is outrageous, and mom is exhausted from staying up with me worrying so much.
i have been through so much in my 3 years of life, being rescued from the puppy mill, heart worm treatments and now this. cats have 9 lives, if i were a cat, i would have used 3 out of 9... but i am a dog, so how many do i have left? thank you all for taking the time to read my story....
all my love........gator
