Bogart and I have been working non-stop to develop his new website -
he felt that his last blog, while nice, was lacking a certain "something".
It is located here: http://www.toaireisdivine.com
The blog is there, and I've added a Message Board as well (accessible
from the top right on the sidebar, just above the Calendar - TAKE ME
to the Airedale Boards!). It's going to be an ongoing project, but we
wanted to invite everyone to visit, post, suggest links, and have fun!!!

Today it was decided that I was getting - ahem! - a bit "funky".
All the time that I've devoted to rolling in mud and running through grass has paid off in a way I hadn't expected... I was going to get my first real shower.
Mom and Dad went out and bought special shampoo for me (supposedly, my skin is a bit dry, whatever that means) and then I listened in while they discussed the best place for this grand procedure.
It was decided that I'd hop into the stand-up shower with Dad, and we'd take a shower together. Mom must have been in on it because she stood outside the door taking pictures of me through the glass and laughing at my plight. Dad soaped me up with the shampoo (ok, it does smell kind of nice) and the shower rinsed it away. It was fun because Dad was making it into a game for me, but still, it was all about a lot of water falling on me and lets say that while I didn't absolutely hate the experience, I'm hoping I don't have to do it again.
Ever.
But that's not going to stop me rolling in stuff.
Dad dried me off with a big, fluffy towel (which is apparently now "my" towel - whee!) and then mom tried to dry me off with this blowy thing that blew warm air at me. I thought this was hilarious and proceeded to run all around the room, taunting her, barking at the blowy thing, and basically drying myself off in the process.
Humans. They're so simple.

Wow, today I had THE coolest experience so far of my time in Los Angeles...
Mom found an Airedale Yahoo Group and signed up, and she mentioned that I have my own blog. Well so many nice people sent me email that they had looked at it, thought I was adorable (yes, praise works really, really well for me) and loved the blog! One very nice lady, Michelle, sent us a note that she lives nearby and that her niece works at a local cafe called the Mustard Seed Cafe in Silverlake and that we should visit sometime.
Well mom told dad the story. Usually I go with mom to work but today I got to spend the day with dad, which is always fun because it means that he'll make me run really fast and I always somehow work in getting really, really dirty and muddy. After our morning run, dad thought it might be interesting to go over to the Mustard Seed Cafe because he was hungry, and it seemed like they would be dog-friendly if we sat outside. Fine with me! So we went and met the really nice waitress who was so excited to see me (I'm soooooo getting used to people loving me at first sight) that she called her aunt to say that there was an Airedale there. And of course, her aunt was the nice lady that sent us the email about going to the Cafe in the first place....
So we'll be going there a lot in the future, I'm sure. Thanks Michele & Tanner (and thanks for the picture on my other blog)!

Today was the annual Pasadena Doo Dah Parade, and mom was determined that I was going to go see it!
I would have been happy to stay home and sleep, especially since it was pretty hot outside, but she insisted so we got into the car with dad and drove to Pasadena. We met two of mom's friends who are really nice and then tried to get a good spot on Colorado Blvd. so we could watch the parade.
No spots on the shady side so we had to sit on the sunny side at first which was HOT. I was sucking down ice cubes and water like it was going out of style. And I slept through the first bits, except when it got noisy (like when Elvis came through - my first Elvis sighting - long live the King).
There were lots of really silly people dressed in really silly outfits - mom was having a great time. Then we had a chance to sit inside at a great Brazilian restaurant and watch the parade from inside -- YESSSSS!
It was much cozier inside - air conditioning, I could lay on the floor and sleep for awhile, and mom snuck me a little bit of mozzarella. I was happy.
And of course, everyone thought I was the cutest puppy at the parade - so I felt good. I'm starting to look really "Airedale" now, mom thinks it's my nose.
Definitely a fun day! Pix of me and mom on my other blog: http://toaireisdivine.blogspot.com

Remember that I was telling you that I have to share my house with 4 cats? Well, I want to introduce you to my very favorite new feline buddy - Behemoth.
Behemoth isn't very big, in fact he is smaller than I was when I first showed up here in Los Angeles. He was a street cat who managed to sucker mom into taking him in, getting him dewormed and cleaned up, and he still has really crooked kitty teeth. Almost as shark-like as my puppy teeth.
I really like Behemoth because he is the only cat that seems to want to play with me, and who doesn't mind too much when I get all excited and run right at his face. He'll just playfully swat me in the nose with his paw (no claws out like Kafka) so I know that I'm moving too fast for him. I appreciate that.
He's showing me all sorts of new games, not to mention where all of the fun stuff is hidden - moms shoes, furry fake mice, balls with bells in them, and of course almost-empty boxes that still have something in them that mom wanted to hide from all of us.
But at the end of a long, hard day, the best thing about Behemoth is that he is equal-opportunity - he doesn't mind being a feline who curls up with a canine to stay toasty warm.
Some great pictures of us on my other blog: http://toaireisdivine.blogspot.com

Ok, so I've just had my first experience with the vacuum cleaner.
At first I thought to myself, it looks harmless, even though in the annals of dog history there are many entries about the wickedness of this particular machine. How horrible it sounds, and how one must quickly run far, far away whenever it is plugged in.
So I sat down and gave it a good, hard look. How bad could it be? How noisy? How offensive?
Well, lets just say that I found out and I'm not proud of my reaction. Running and hiding with my tail between my legs isn't a good look for me. I'm gonna have to work on my oops-the-vacuum-cleaner-is-out-must-hide-now-and-run-away-qu ickly moves.

Today is a rainy day here in Los Angeles - I really hate going out in the rain to have to pee and poop. I try my best to look at mom for sympathy, but she keeps dragging me outside.
Grrrrrrrr.
I'm with mom at work today and dad just sent me the funniest pictures by email of two of our kitties - Kafka and Behemoth (I've already introduced you to Kafka, I'll post more about Behemoth soon) sleeping in my crate!!!! Now while I'll admit that my crate isn't my favorite place in the world at this point, it's just weird to have kitties sleeping in there. And sleeping all curled up together! They're never that nice to each other when I'm around... they're usually swatting me in the nose or doing that hissing thing when they see me.
Cats. They're just weird.

Ok, I know I change my personal favorite dog almost every week, but hey, give me a break I'm a puppy!
I got to play in the park today again with Sophie, one of the weiner dogs that I played with a week or so ago. She's so adorable! I'm much taller now than I was the last time we played (and as of today, I officially weigh 18 pounds) but it's still a lot of fun. We took a long walk in the park, there's always a lot to see when we do a long walk and lots of rolling in the grass (one of my very favorite things). I like to follow Sophie around because she's older than me, and knows all of the fun stuff.
Just at the end of the fun Sophie found a big pile of something stinky (I'll spare you all the gory details here, but you can imagine...) and had the brilliant idea to roll in it so she was covered in it! I watched her for a few moments, waited for my dad and Sophie's dad to get really excited (they seemed to be upset by this but I thought it was great) and then ran over and started to eat some.... dad didn't like this one bit, so I changed tactic and jumped on Sophie's back.
Now we were two very dirty dogs! Our dads brought us back to the house and brought out the hose... Sophie really hated being hosed down, and this was my first time ever. I can't say that I liked it but it wasn't that terrible if you try to make it into a game... which I did.... by biting dad and trying to bite the hose. When we came inside and mom saw two soaking wet doggies she asked what happened and we both shook the water off of us at the same time!
All I wanted to do at that point was sleep, and luckily mom and dad curled me up in my warm red blanket so they could go out. They were originally going to take me with them (they went to a party in West Hollywood) but because I was so good at looking tired they let me stay home. It's a little bit of a shame that I was so tired because I could have played with the doggie at the party named Sid - he was a Chihuahua and I haven't met any of those kind of dogs yet - but maybe next time.
It was a very full day.

Whew! What a busy day I had today!
First mom and dad had a friend visiting from Santa Fe, so we had a "bavarian breakfast" - no sausages for me tho, and I really wanted to taste some!
Then mom and dad decided that it was time for my first major hike - at first I thought, great! That sounds like fun! - but then I realized that they meant hiking up a big hill near the Griffith Observatory in Hollywood. I took one look up that big hill and tried to protest, but it was to no avail. They were insistent about walking all the way to the top.
It was a lot of work to get up there... and then I could see the Hollywood sign in the distance. I chose this moment to sit and look adorable so mom would rush to get her camera. I could rest for a minute, she could take a picture, we were both happy.
Mom got me some treats afterward from the Three Dog Bakery - they were soooo yummy!!! Then it was time to head home.... When we got there I was sooooooo tired, I went right to sleep. Usually I stay awake for awhile, play with the evil stuffed squirrel and chew on a pig ear, but today I was just tired.

Bogart
