A letter to my little Fez,
It was one of the worst days of my life when I came home one day. I was excited because Fez had had puppies three days earlier and Molly had had puppies the night before. I walked out the back door and my heart missed about a thousand beats as I saw Fez lifeless on the floor and her pups crying for their mother in the bed. As much as I did not want to admit it I knew what had happened. My baby Fez was being very protective of her babies and one of the other dogs didn't like it and fought back only Fez was one of the smallest dogs ever and could never have won a fight to the death. I didn't even think straight away I picked up all of Fez's pups and put them on the bed with Molly and hers. They were all hungry and went straight for the nipples, Molly looked up at me with a worried and somehow sad look, just like she didn't want to but knew she had to take the pups like they were her very own. Molly, a maltese X managed to wean 9 perfectly healthy babies with only 7 nipples. All of them survived - I was, and I know Fez would have been, so proud of the little girl for such a great achievement.
We all miss Fez and it has been so bad living knowing that she gave her life defending her babies as such a brave mother - I LOVE YOU and I will never forget you.
With all the love in the world - Nicola
