Arrival Story: We'd been looking for a BT for about a month when we found this breeder down in Virginia. She just had a litter fathered by a really sweet lookin champ; the momma though, looked kinda like Goofy. Anyway, we fell in love with "Tank" after seeing just one picture...he had that perfect little Haggerty(?) spot on his head. But the second picture we saw made us hesitate; Tank looked completely wall-eyed. That hesitation was how we lost him the first time. During the week that my girlfriend and I were thinking it over, Tank was sold to someone else. Afterwards, we found out that he was just looking at something to his right, which made his eyes look funny.
We had a chance to get the puppy that we knew, deep down, was the one for us...but we let him slip away. I got the heat cuz I had an aversion to the walleye (the gf did not). But the story doesn't end here, my friends. A week later, I received an email from the breeder, telling me that Tank was available again. The person who bought him initially decided to go instead with one of his brindle brothers. But as luck would have it, a couple had already scheduled a visit with Tank. They were looking to get their two young kids a puppy for Christmas. A few days later, we got the bad news...Tank was sold, again. We had lost him for the second time.
Falling in love with a puppy, then losing him, twice...well, it was an emotional rollercoaster. Fortunately, my girlfriend and I had trip to the Bahamas scheduled for the following week. So we decided to forget about Tank, enjoy our vacation and start our puppy search fresh once we got back. Easier said than done.
A few days into our tropical getaway, I got this strong urge to check my email. So I logged into this ghetto-assed computer in the hotel "library" and sure enough, the breeder had emailed me that exact same day! Apparently, the couple had second-thoughts about raising a puppy with their kids (rightly so, I might add). So if we were still interested, Tank was ours for the taking. We couldn't get off that stupid island quick enough.
The following week, 9-week old Tank, now Nikumaru Tank L.K. bolted into our lives and the rest is doggie history.
Note: Niku never left the breeder until he came to live with us. He was only sold in paper the first two times.

Bio: Nikumaru means Meatball in Japanese.
He swallowed two complete buffalo wings on 4/7/03.
Had them surgically removed on 4/8/03.
He's hung like a horse.
He's been to puppy school and socialization classes but remains aggressive towards other dogs, especially bigger dogs. We've tried many things to improve his behavior. We haven't given up...but we've come to accept the fact that his temperament is not great.
