Loud trucks, motorcycles, squirrels running through the yard, and baths.

Arrival Story:
We had about given up on finding a new Akita puppy locally when I happened to see an ad in our paper for a puppy that was a couple hours away. She was the last female (which we wanted), so it was her or nothing! We wanted to be very careful about temperment and were very impressed with both Sass's Mom and Dad. Obviously, she won us over too!

Bio:
Sass has warmed our hearts after losing our beautiful Kita after Christmas 2004. Sass looked like the foam on a root beer float when we first got her and our daughter wanted to call her Root Beer. We compromised and went with Sassafras since that's where root beer comes from! She is a total reject as far as breed goes because of the pink on her nose, but we find it adorable! We lost Sassafras September 5, 2009 after a serious of health issues. We're thankful for the love she gave us over her short 4 years.

Dog Days of Summer

I had my friend Maya (the greater Dane) over for another week. We had so much fun on our walks! One day we caught a opossum and I think we killed it. Well, it sure looked like we did. Mom wouldn't let us do anything with it after we caught it. When we came past the same spot on the return trip, it was nowhere to be found! I couldn't quite figure out what happened. Oh, well. There were lots of bunnies and squirrels to chase anyway.

I like to lay outside under the trampoline while Mom or Dad mows the lawn. Today it's almost too hot for me to do that. I don't shed my fur (which Mom loves, but thinks is weird) so I get hot really easily.

I had good naps today and Mom bought a new kind of treat. Life is good!

I heard talk that my kiddo starts back to school soon. I'll miss her, but it also means I get to ride in the car when Mom goes to pick her up!

Stay lazy!

Just a quick entry before I have to go pack! I heard my family talking about going "bye-bye" and the words Grampy and Grammy. That means a trip to Winconsin and romps in the woods! I got to go to Grandpa and Grandma's yesterday for the Fourth of July. My Heidi has had lots of kids over lately which is also fun. Bunnies, squirrels, and deer are in abundance this summer - life is GOOD!

The Greater Dane....

It's been an interesting spring at my house. My family high-tailed it to Florida for a week at the end of May. Thankfully they didn't leave me at a kennel. I got to stay at my friend Maya's house. She is one big dog! She is well over 100 pounds and can stand over my back. She knows her place, though, and lets me be the boss. We like to play and run together.

My people picked me up from her place, took me home, and I had just gotten settled in when the Greater Dane (Maya) showed up at my house! We're having all kinds of fun again. We romp around the yard, drink out of the hose, go for good walks, and then take good naps. She may be bigger than me, but I can still take her down! I don't know how long she's staying with me, but she sure is lots of fun.

We've also had lots of people over lately. I love that!

Time to catch up on sleep again before I have to go play!
