Arrival Story:
We were looking about getting a Toller puppy sometime in the fall.. I was doing a lot of research, and starting to familiarize myself with breeders. We originally talked about a rescue.. but there just aren't many IN the Toller Rescue at any exact moment. So one day I was playing around on petfinder.com, just looking to see what I could see, and I typed in a search on Tollers. I cam accross Sam, who was in need of an urgent rescue, and only lived about 1 hour from my parent's house (3.5 hours from us). We talked about it, and got in touch with his foster mom. After many really long emails, we chatted on the phone about him. It was hairy there for awhile - we were looking to rent a place that would allow us to have our cat and Sam, but couldn't find anything. Then, as soon as we admitted we might not be able to take him, the next day the perfect opportunity fell into our lap... a perfect house for rent in a great little community in the mountains .. perfect distance to my husband's job, perfectly priced - AND we could have both animals. So we paid the security deposit and two days later went to meet Sam. What a special guy who has such a hard life!! He is SUCH a sweetie! He has been in and out of shelters for pretty much all of his 5 1/2 years of life. In one month's time he was adopted and returned five (5!!!!) times. He was going to be put down numerous times. I can't imagine anyone putting down such a wonderful dog!! So Sam is coming home to us. I hope he settles into life with us quickly - though I know it will probably take a couple of months time - but he is our new baby and has a home with us for forever no matter what happens!
