Malkin. Stealing Malkin's stuff. Belly rubs, belly rubs, belly rubs! Jumping. Squeaking her plush toys every 2 seconds for 20 minutes straight until the squeaker dies. Having zoomies in the pond. Bounding off trees. Killing frogs.
Being without Malkin. Nap time. People yelling for any reason (she yells back). When Malkin doesn't want to play. Squirrels.
Malkin (especially his tail). Anything that squeaks (especially her 4' long plush snake). Catnip balls. Basically, whatever Malkin wants becomes her favoritest thing in the world.
Salmon. Peanut butter. Oatmeal. Yummy Chummies. Tortilla chips. Soy milk. Cat poop.
Anywhere through snow. Anywhere she gets to chase Malkin's tail. Anywhere she can splash around in water.
sleeping through an 18 hour car ride. "Italian Ask": slaps me with her paw and huffs at me. "Irish Ask": sings and dances then steals what I have and runs off. Snoopy Dance. Wookie. Stevie Wonder (waves her head around while singing).
After adopting Malkin, we knew we wanted another Siberian Husky. We searched through shelters, rescue groups, and breeders... trusting that when the right place and dog came along, we would know. We found a breeder (Hero's Huskies) who we just clicked with, and who loves both huskies and cats (yet understands the tenuous relationship between them). We were all signed up for a pup due in May, but then one of the Feline Nine was diagnosed with diabetes...and possibly kidney cancer and/or Cushings disease (we needed more tests, thankfully it's only diabetes). We didn't feel right about taking in a new pup when our full attention had to be devoted to Black Elk. The breeder understood completely. In July, we were offered another pup, but the family who initially adopted it decided to keep it after all. After two strikes, we were wondering if it would ever happen. But in late September, a little sable and white bundle was born, and we fell in love all over again. It's been a long wait, but I know she'll be worth every impatient moment. Third time's the charm.
Paikea is very playful, extremely affectionate, intelligent though not deviously clever like her brother, goofy, and so active she rivals the Energizer Rabbit. But you can't be around her for more than 2 minutes without smiling and laughing. We all adore her to no end, even though she likes to fart in people's faces (hence the nickame "Stinkbutt"). She's in harness training, and is proving to be a great swing dog. That's pretty much the only time she shows a serious attitude; the rest of the time, she's as silly as they get.
