Arrival Story: I went to a pet store (for shame!) to buy a special collar for my dog at home and who can resist visiting the wall of AKC puppies (for shame again!). Moose was just a tiny 3 pounds at eight weeks old and was obviously suffering from kennel cough. The owner of the store said he didn't need treatment and would get better on his own and she wouldn't let me take him to a vet. So I "bought" him instead. He was all skin and bones and slept on my pillow for about a week so that I could feed him with a syringe every couple of hours. It was like raising an abandoned newborn, but he finally started improving and eventually became the fireball he still is today!
Bio: Moose is what they call a "double dapple" dachsund, which seems to be more common in the long coat. He has blue wall eyes and does not see as well as he might. Lucky for Moose he can hear very well. Many dogs carrying the genetic coding for this coloration also carry the genetic coding for deafness.
