Arrival Story:
MOCHA (1999 – 2014) It has been several months since my beloved Mocha crossed over the “Rainbow Bridge.” She had been my faithful companion for the past 15 years. What a wonderful journey we shared together. Not having her meet me at the door has taken me a little time to get used to, even though the last year or so she would “allow” me to sneak up on her while she took a brief nap,. The waves of sadness occasionally wash over me from time to time. But I take solace in knowing as she walked across that proverbial bridge Lola was doing her little “Happy Feet” anxiously waiting for her older sister to arrive. I would like to think my two and half year old son, Nic, will remember her. Chances are those memories will only be of a faint memory through pictures and from an old nursery rhyme Nico and I sing together. He knows Mocha is up there by “Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star…..” - Ever so shining and smiling down upon us from afar - But I am lucky! I am quite fortunate to not only to have Mocha’s companionship for so many years but she leaves behind her legacy; Catahoula Coffee Company. She lives on not only in name but as one of the company’s logos. Her logo is not just a random piece of clipart….like a certain NorCal brewery I know, but as an identifiable link to the history of the company. Plus, I have the privilege of seeing her on a daily basis. When you get a puppy you normally would think that you are the teacher/guardian. You hold the responsibilities of guiding and protecting this innocent soul. But in all reality it is she who has taught me; Love, Compassion, Patience and Humility. I can honestly say Mocha has made me a better person in many ways. Mocha….You are at peace now and so greatly missed.
