Kennell Cough Crud...

Ok.... so it wasn't bad enough that my pushy little sister has attempted to take over MY house.... to top it all off.... she's made me SICK!

Apparently she had Kennell cough when she arrived but was already on an antibiotic so my peoples didn't think she was contagious anymore. I was fine until this past monday, and we thought I was in the clear. Sure enough though, Tuesday morning, , off to the vet I went. Now I'M on an antibiotic AND this prednesone stuff. We called the vet again because this morning I was still hacking but they said to give it a couple more days. We'll see...

Getting adjusted...

Well as you know, I've been getting adusted to my new sister Nina. We're getting along much better now, although I WISH she'd stay away from me at feeding time!!! I try to put her in her place but... she doesn't get it. This guy showed up at our house today to help with that whole thing but... mom was less than thrilled. Check out Nina's post in the behavior/trianing forum for the whole story!

The new addition....

Well, I just got a new sister. Her name is Nina. My people and I have been really trying hard to teach her proper manners. Really, I've been trying to help and everything but my people don't seem to appreciate the way I help. Nina's learning pretty well although she doesn't seem to like crate-crate. Don't lnow why.... I love my crate-crate. She was making such a fuss about it today while my people were at work that I had to help her escape. I know, Iknow, I'm a soft touch but I just couldn't listen to her cry and bark. I told my people... I"LL show Nina how to be good in the house while you're at work, I PROMISE, just don't make me have to listen to that again!!! It's kinda hard not being the complete center of my people's attention anymore, but Amy promises me that I'm still her bear-bear and she loves me. =-) Amy says Nina's page will be up real soon. You should all chekc it out!!

Long time no bark....

Hey everyone. It's been awhile since I wrote. I'm so excited. my yellow lab cousin Simba just moved into town from Maryland with his people. To celebrate, we had a playdate at the dog park. Simba and I had a blast. Since his new house has a pool, maybe next summer they'll let me come over and we can swim together. Gee... Nick and Amy say Uncle Mike and Aunt Kathleen may not APPRECIATE two labs swimming in their pool..... but why not? I mean, why ELSE would they have a pool?

Nick keeps talking about getting me a sister... a ROTTIE sister preferably. He even mentioned turning one of the extra bedrooms into a poochie room. I think this is an excellent idea. I WANNA sister.... Amy doens't seem quite as enthusiastic about the idea. I think she wants to get me a HUMAN sister or brother instead.... we'll see...

The first and LAST time......

We got invited to a relative's house to use their pool while they were out of town. When we first got there I didn't really pay much notice to the pool, because I was more interested in playing ball with Amy's nephew JD. BUT, once Amy got in the pool and encouraged me to come in, well I jumped right in. This wouldn't have been a problem except I've never swam before in my LIFE. I know, I know, what kind of lab am I... ANYWAY... I went under for just a second, and started paddling around. I wanted to get out but didn't understand how to use the steps and tried to climb up the side. Amy had to pull me by my collar over to the steps and show me. I pretty much stuck to my ball after that. It was ok, cooled me off but... eh.... I don't see the big deal... The cheesburger later was cool.......

I am in loooooove......

Amy decided to take me to this new dog park that just opened up near us. I was enjoying myself, you know just kind of investigating, minding my own business. Out of NOWHERE comes this VISION in black. Her name... is SASHA. She's a 7 month old lab shepherd mix JUST LIKE ME!! I posted a pic. of us together... It's the only one Amy could get of ust together because we just couldn't sit still... see... my kinda woman! I know, I know.... you think I'm too old for her... I'm robbing the cradle, but it was love at first sniff and we were inseperable for the next half hour. We sniffed, we ran, chased, jumped and tumbled. I even let her share my TENNIS ball. Amy says we are giong to start going to this park on a regular basis, so I just know we'll see each oher again and that it's meant to be.

A histio WHAT???

Ok, so on Thursday, dad noticed this think on my paw, it seemed kinda raw and irritated, so to the vet I went to have it checked out. THe Dr. said it was something called a Histiocytoma... whatEVER that is. He gave us this cream that mom and dad kept putting on it. It hurt having them rub it in... but the cream tasted good =-P Of course SINCE it tasted good, that inevitably meant that I apparently WASN'T really supposed to be eating it. The vet said that while the stuff wasn't toxic, it probably wasn't doing me much good either, so we could stop the cream.

We went back to the vet today to have it looked at again (and to get my annual shots and stuff). The Dr. said he thought that the paw looked much better and that everything was ok. I guess that means I can go back to the squirrels now......
