Leave a bone for Shelby GT

Nicknames:
Shelbster, Shelby-dog, Schmelly

Quick Bio:
-mutt-pound dog-dog rescue

Likes:
Retrieve a tennis ball, loves to go for walks and swim in the Pacific ocean. Likes to sleep on her back with feet leaning up against the couch or wall.

Pet-Peeves:
doorbell ring (she will bark like a mad dog, even if the doorbell is from the TV), vacuum cleaner, wheel barrow, newspaper, popping bubblewrap, water coming out of a hose.

Favorite Toy:
tennis ball (actually, any kind of ball)

Favorite Food:
She only eats Science Diet, but her treat is a bone from a porterhouse steak about once a month. She also loves carrots!

Favorite Walk:
We live on a canyon, so she loves to walk in the canyon. And she loves to go to the beach. She will hit the water hard to retrieve her tennis ball.

Best Tricks:
You can hide a tennis ball anywhere in the house and she will find it. I see her stare and me and I say "Don't look at me" and she turns her head sideways.

Arrival Story:
I stopped by the local dog pound and they had just brought her in. She was 7 or 8 weeks old and someone had abandoned her. Best $28 that I ever spent. She was a very destructive little dog for the first year, then one day it all stopped. She is smart, active, healthy (cancer survivor) and extremely happy!! She has one of those faces that you can actually see a smile on her.

Bio:
Shelby had a cancerous tumor about 3 years ago on her chest. We had it surgically removed, had 18 stitches, but now totally healed. No one can believe that she will be 12 on June 1st of this year (2005). She doesn't have an ounce of fat on her frame. Very muscular for a senior dog. She sleeps on the floor next to our bed. When my alarm goes off, I hit the snoozer (several times). She doesn't move until she hears the "click" sound of me turning the alarm off (snaps to her feet instantly upon hearing the click sound).
