Arrival Story:
We got Raven as a puppy from a woman who didn't know much about her breed and got her because she "looked cute". She soon realized how much work Raven was going to be and gave her up to us with a lie about her lineage and breed type. We only recently found out her actual breed and received her records. She is a Castro Laboreiro (see additional bio) and is full of energy and life. She is an excellent guard dog and favors children. Her natural herding instincts enable her to keep kids in line. lol. But don't mess with her family. She is extremely protective of us all. We have contacted a CL breeder and plan on getting another one when we make our move to Germany in January 06. If anyone is interested please check out the breed. They are amazing animals and the breed is so unknown and they are in danger of becoming extinct.

Bio:
Raven is a rare breed dog not listed in the dog breed profile section. Her breed originates in Portugal and can be found in the mountainous regions of portugal and some german areas. Her breed was developed over a thousand years ago for use as a livestock guard and she is currently listed as an LGD. The american name for her breed is Portuguese Cattle Dog.
