Arrival Story:
On the night of May 4, 1999, there was a scratch on my door and when I opened it .... there she stood. There had been several deadly tornados the previous night and I assumed she had been left homeless and was someone's pet. After several weeks of running ads and calling vets looking for owners, even giving her away once and then taking her back because the people had mean dogs, she was family.

Bio:
I don't know where Dorothy came from but the vet guessed that she was about six mths old and from her fear of most women, he thinks she was abused. She was timid but took to my others dogs well, esp Jake. They shared a backyard and doghouse for six years and they loved each other dearly. This year has been extremely rough for Dorothy. Jake died and she mourned to the point of being in the hospital several times for IV therapy because she wouldn't eat or drink. She then developed Lyme Disease and was near death and is just now feeling better. She will be on antibiotics for two years before she has a clean bill of health. I didn't know how she would take to a new dog but when she saw Rudy, her tail started wagging. She has been his mother since that day and they are always together.

A Day In The Life Of Me

What A Day!

Today was very busy for me. My mom was off work and that's always fun becuase we get to do something special. We (Rudy and me) woke up and ate and went outside and played in the yard for a long time. The sun was really nice but is was cooler so we ran and chased each other. I tryed to show Rudy how to escape through my secret place but he stayed in the yard. I got out and went to the neighbors house and visited the pomeranian, tinkled in all the other neighbors yards and then sat on the front porch until mom let me in.

I knew we were going when mom brought out the leashes so I told Rudy to put the flip flop down and come on. We went to my human sister's house to visit. She has two chihuahuas, Tinky and Bella, and a chi-weenie, Sassy. I like Bella and Tinky but Sassy is mean and growls at me so I ignore her. We went to their backyard and mom and my sister tried to take pics of us. They lined us up and before they could snap, we were in five directions. It's soooo much fun to see humans scramble like that! We played for a while and then we got to go for another ride and let the wind blow in our faces, I love that. We went to the bank and they gave us a Milk Bone and we ate it on the way home.

After we had been home for a while, our Grandma came over to see us. She is in her 80s and she lost her little chihuahua, Poncho, a few months ago when he was 15 years old. (I loved him too) Grandma likes me the best because I sit really close to her and stay still. She pets me really soft for a long time and tells me how pretty I am. :) Of course, Rudy has to get up there too but he is just her second favorite. Grandma brought me a special treat, a slice of roast beef! I'm lucky.

Before bed we went outside again and played chase with Maggie, the dog next door. We have to do it through the fence but it's still fun and she has 3 humans that pet me so I had a really good time.

We went to bed and watched Animal Cops and fussed over who got to sleep closer to mom then I went to sleep. What a wonderful day I had!
