 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: March 3rd 1985
Likes: he loved long walks and lots of attention

Pet-Peeves: Being left alone

Favorite Toy: A 6 foot twisted sapling we had cut down. Over the years he chewed it down to about 10" long

Favorite Food: Fruits and veggies

Favorite Walk: On the beach, but loved to go any where

Best Tricks: He just did standard stuff, but could wrap us around his toe.

Arrival Story: I lost my first irish Setter and my son's girlfiend bought this one from a kennel in Missouri and had him shipped to Austin for me. It was love at first sight for us. His ACK name that I picked was Sir Lancelot's Irish Pride. The Sir Lancelot was part of his dad's name.
This is unreal, but he never went in the house. About 30 minutes after he was given to me, he squatted and I picked him up and took him out into the yard. A couple of hours later he went to the door and stood there. It was so unreal. he had not been housebroken, but he understood with just "no" and being taken outside.

Bio: Boots developed severe allergies and many times had a lot of fur chewed off. We tried every thing that came out and it would only work for a little while. But he was always so cheerful, tail always going. He also had to have surgery on one ear for a hematoma,
He was diagnosed with bone cancer, a very aggressive kind and we were told that within a week he probably would not be eating and could not get around. However, we could have his leg amputated that day and hope it had not spread. But he was 12 years old and already had arthritis and as much as our hearts said do it, our mind so don't put the old man thru this.
We decided to give him a few good days and then send him to the bridge. Well, those few days turned into exactly 10 weeks of going fishing with me every day--he loved to chase crabs in shallow water, try to catch shore birds, swim around where I was wade fishing. We gave him everything dogs aren't supposet o have--banana splits, strawberry short cake, some chocolate candy, lots of ice cream, popcorn, pie, cake, whatever dessert we had. We also let him have all the watermelon and canteloup, tomatoes and lettuce he wanted.
I took him to my vet twice a week and each time he would shake his head and say "It is unreal. We don't have to do it yet." Boots even gained weight.
But on the morning of July 9, 1997 he fell while getting on the sofa and there was a hardness in his shoulder and I knew the cancer was there. The day before he had not been as active while we were fishing. I gave him a big bowl of butter pecan ice cream and then to the vet's to send that elegant, grand old man on his final sleep. He is buried out near our duck blind even tho he was not a duck dog. He just loved the water so much.

April 29, 2006 A neighbor asked Mom the other day if she wanted some tomato plants to set out. That reminded Mom of how I would wreck her garden when I was with her. I LOVED to eat ALL the tomatoes and squash right off the vines. I even ate the green peppers. Mom said she thought I must have been a human vegaterian come back to life as a dog, but couldn't get past my love of veggies.
One might my human brothers, when in high school, had about 5 kids over to eat supper. Mom was always feeding these kids, mostly football players l8ike my human brother, Randy, and they could pack away the food. This night she had fixed spaghetti with meat sauce, green beans, tossed salad, and garlic bread and some for dessert, but we don't remember what it was. Well, Randy took some trash out and came back in and said the biggest rat he ever saw was out at the trash can. Everyone dashed out to see the "biggest rat" ( Mom thinks it was probably a possum) and when they all came back in, I was on the table eating--not the spaghetti with meat sauce, not the bread nor even the green beans. I had my nose in that big bowl of salad full of lettuce, purple cabbage, tomatoes, grated carrots and cucumbers. Boy was I in Heaven with all those veggies.

That is what my doctor called me. I have been gone since July 1997 and still when Mom takes the dogs to see the doctor he always talks about me. I am at the bridge with Scooter and Hunter and lots of other doggies Mom has had over the years. WE watch over Mom and like to see her very happy--like last night when she had two of her 3 grandkid spend the night. We may be gone, but we still love and are still loved.
