Arrival Story:
The sixth and most spoiled member of our family was Blackie, a “mature” Terrier doggie. We got him in 1984, as a cutest two-weeks old puppy from our friends. He kept acting like a little doggie, until his very last day. He was so good and extremely smart! When he expressed himself, it was as if he were talking in our own language, and there was no doubt in our minds that he understood almost everything we were saying to him. In short, he was almost human... He could do the following tricks (and more...) : He brake-danced (accompanying himself by his very own dog-singing...) on his back [It probably runs in the family...we too, love dancing, a lot !!!]. He brought his own leash, sneezed, sat, stood up on his hind legs, “shook hands“ with his right and left front paws, “talked/barked” when he wanted something, identified and recognized each member of our family by their names, and was attentive to the “sound” of our car when it was approaching, still a block away from our home. When he finished the food in his bowl, he carried it in his mouth, brought and dropped it in front of us, as if he were hinting : “Hey, it’s emply...”. He was an excellent judge of human character (regarding visitors...), loved company, enjoyed riding with us in the car, liked to sleep with us , and preserved his energy by... sleeping a lot. We took good care of him, and spoiled him rotten until his very last day. He died of old age on August 4th, 2000, when he was 16.5 years old. We will cherish him in our hearts forever.
