Tanny woke up and had a good breakfast of a cup of yogurt and TWO strip steaks cut up into tiny pieces. He spent time with Dad, then Emily and Jim came over to see him. He went out side and sat under a tree for a long time with his dog friends Bean and Fatty. Laura came over and pet him and we all sat under the tree in the sunshine. Emily spent some time alone with Tanny telling him goodbye. Tanny went inside and had one last nap for about 30 minutes and woke up and peed on the kitchen floor one last time. At 2:15, it was time to go to the vet. Tanny and Bean said their goodbyes. Laura and Jim put Tanny in the car and he immediately started howling; he always hated being in the car. We got to the vet and he took a few minutes outside to relax. When we got there it seemed like everyone knew why we were there and a lot of strangers started crying. A short time later, Tanny closed his eyes with Laura and Jim hugging him. We buried him under a tree where he lived with a handful of roses from the garden. Tanny left knowing that we love him very much and that we were thankful that he was such a great friend to us throughout the years. He also knew that we were so sorry he had to go and that we will never forget him.
Heaven is a better place today.
