Humph...Me and this Vet guy are getting too close for comfort!
Earlier today, my mama was petting my neck and smooching on me when she got a strange look on her face. She called my dad over and he rubbed my neck too. They did some talking and looking at me. Lots more feeling my neck...then they called that "vet" guy and off we went.
The vet stroked my neck...then ...you are not going to believe this...He got a needle and stuck it in my NECK! They all talked more....Vet left the room for a bit then came back in and gave more pills and other stuff to take home.
Apparently, I have an infected salivary gland. This is caused by chewing on hard object that may have poked me in the mouth. We are suspecting the dreaded Nylabones again...
and so...the saga continues. I have to take the antibiotics and keep my paws crossed that it drains on its own. I swear....March has been a bear! Here's hoping April is a better month!
Cheers!
Otis~

Such a scary day. It started very early....sometime before 3:00am. I woke up and my tummy HURT bad. I got my mama out of bed and went outside and threw up...over and over and over again. It was dark so mama couldn't see what I was throwing up...she was just scared....and hugging me. We went back into the house...I threw up lots and lots more...this time it was only bile. I tried to eat my breakfast...I threw it up immediately so I got really depressed...cause...I LOVE TO EAT! Mama knew right then...this was serious!
We called the vet, who got us in at 8:00am. He poked, stuck things in areas we won't speak of...asked what I had to eat the night before...just my regular dinner and some hamburger helper? He really believed that was the problem...Humph! He did some more tests, gave my a shot of medicine and said I was dehydrated so he gave me some fluids through a needle into my back...I left feeling worn out, tummy hurt, and I had a hump like a camel. It was a rough morning!
I got home and threw up again...this time a big piece of nylon/rubber came out! Then my mama and dad went outside and looked in the grass...and they were SHOCKED...they found a huge "thing" that was rubber and nylon. They put it in a baggie and weighed it...It was 84 grams!
So here is what happened....I chew the nylabones. When I chew, slivers or tiny pieces come off and I swallow them. These pieces stick together in my stomach and form a mass that grows and grows. My pawrents ALWAYS watch me with my toys...I never am allowed to break off big chunks....They just had no idea this kind of problem could happen.
So...my friends. I am still not completely out of the woods. I did eat my dinner tonight and held it down. THAT is a very good sign. If I do any more throwing up...I will have to go back to the vet for surgery!!!!
PLEASE take up the Nylabones...the risk is just not worth it. Like my new motto says..."More walks...Less Toys!"
Huggs and Wiggles!

OK guys, I got love tagged by my pal Mocha Bear, who has some of the most beautiful fur on Dogster ( I have fur envy). Here's how it works.
You pick our three pups that you LOVE (only 3? that's hard) and say what you love about them! Send them a pmail or rosie to know you have love tagged them, and pass the fun along to another pup!
My first pic is Haze:

Haze is one of the most beautifullest pups I have ever had the pleasure of laying my eyes on. Not only is she stunningly gorgeous, but she sweet, kind and has a heart of gold!
My second pic is Raskol:

Raskol made me a HAPBT (Honorary American Pit Bull Terrier). This is is something I take great pride in as I stand up for all my bully brothers and sisters. He also has a witty sense of humor and a smile that could melt butter) He is a wonderbull pal and I love, love, love him!!!!
Which brings me to choice three, Sophia the Pink Princess!

Sophia is my friend of grace and class. She is everything that is beautiful and sweet.
Although this list is only supposed to be (3), I could never leave off my pal Kitai.

Kitai gave me my very first star and holds a specail place in my heart. He has the heart of a lion and the soul of a lamb. Kitai is all that I hope and strive to be someday....and he LOVES CORNDOGS....my kind of pal :-)

The lone ranger of the animal kingdom has arrived! The Scorpio dog is more independent than most, but along with that self-sufficiency comes a strong-willed, almost stubborn demeanor. That said, this canine will be extremely loyal once comfortable in the family and would literally defend you to the death! Hey, that's true grit. Mysterious as well, the Scorpio dog could wander off for days in search of adventure -- yet always return. What pet would cross three states only to come back to its master in the end? Surely a Scorpio! The Scorpio pup is also emotional and intuitive and can easily sense when things aren't right. If their master is upset, they will surely stay close, the better to comfort you in their own way. Call them nosy? Well, maybe, as this is the kind of dog that needs to know what's going on, whether it's family dynamics or the contents of the neighborhood garbage cans. Beware of what this canine might bring in the door! The Scorpio dog does things its own way. Simply put, this is one unfussy animal that just wants to find a place to call home.

Some of them were dreamers
And some of them were fools
Who were making plans and thinking of the future
With the energy of the innocent
They were gathering the tools
They would need to make their journey back to nature
While the sand slipped through the opening
And their hands reached for the golden ring
With their hearts they turned to each other's heart for refuge
In the troubled years that came before the deluge
Some of them knew pleasure
And some of them knew pain
And for some of them it was only the moment that mattered
And on the brave and crazy wings of youth
They went flying around in the rain
And their feathers, once so fine, grew torn and tattered
And in the end they traded their tired wings
For the resignation that living brings
And exchanged love's bright and fragile glow
For the glitter and the rouge
And in the moment they were swept before the deluge
Now let the music keep our spirits high
And let the buildings keep our children dry
Let creation reveal it's secrets by and by
By and by...
When the light that's lost within us reaches the sky
Some of them were angry
At the way the earth was abused
By the men who learned how to forge her beauty into power
And they struggled to protect her from them
Only to be confused
By the magnitude of her fury in the final hour
And when the sand was gone and the time arrived
In the naked dawn only a few survived
And in attempts to understand a thing so simple and so huge
Believed that they were meant to live after the deluge
Now let the music keep our spirits high
And let the buildings keep our children dry
Let creation reveal it's secrets by and by
By and by...
When the light that's lost within us reaches the sky
